No, unfortunately it isn't, you only want correct socket types for the motherboard and CPU. Unless you want to risk destroying both of the components.

Hey Euclides, yes in order to play the latest PC games you will need a good graphics card. Even if you bought a top of the line Proccessor without a graphics card you will not get good graphic performance. I would recommend this Proccessor as log as it is the same socket type as your motherboard along with a gtx 770 or a ATI HD 7970 for the latest games, although the more you pay the better the graphics within reason.

Can I put this processor in my lenovo ideapad z 580?

No. This is a desktop processor and will not fit in a laptop. There are a small number of gaming laptops which use desktop CPUs, but the Lenovo IdeaPad Z580 is not one of them.

If you look at the tech specs on Lenovo's website (which can be found by doing a google search for the laptop), you will see that the Z580 uses CPUs that end with "M" (for mobile).
