5 out of 5 eggsPentium G3240

Pros: Quick for a value model dual core! I use it for a media center PC, so it isn't tasked with running video and photo processing or other very CPU intensive programs. It works perfectly fine for high quality HD video (paired with a Geforce GT 730, so I can't comment on the integrated Intel graphics) and even moderate gaming. It runs so cool that the boxed cheapo Intel heatsink can handle it no problem while remaining quiet!

Cons: Not a great processor for very CPU intensive tasks requiring multi-core processing (like video and photo editing, as mentioned earlier). Performance is acceptable, but you may want to consider at least a Core i3 for this kind of work. Also, it only supports up to 1333MHz DDR3, so if faster memory is installed, it will be clocked down (at least with cheaper motherboards).

Other Thoughts: Better than a Celeron!

5 out of 5 eggsGood quality for a good price

Pros: Fast, inexpensive, Haswell, good GPU on board

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: For a speedy home/office machine, this is a good choice. Paired with ASUS H81M-K and AData DDR3 1600. No issues with setup or installation, and machine crushes Win7.

4 out of 5 eggsGREAT VALUE

Pros: Can't complain, at 60$ish, great performance, silent and run cool

Cons: none really, extremly good value

Other Thoughts: Running it in a HTPC with a mushkin enhanced SSD drive. Amazing the speed and quality you get for so cheap!

5 out of 5 eggsNice, cheap Intel cpu.

Pros: Cheap
3.1ghz
Haswell architecture
Comes with HSF ;-)

Cons: None really

Other Thoughts: Bought this for a basic build for my 7 year old nephew who wants to play Minecraft.
The cpu, is cheap, dual core and speedy enough to be paired with 7850 for some 1080p Minecraft and Youtube browsing.

4 out of 5 eggsCheap and cheerful

Pros: Cheap, efficient

Cons: Maybe not the gruntiest chip

Other Thoughts: I bought this for my first ever build. In fact, it's the first Intel chip I've ever bought (if you excuse StrongARM processors). I'm very pleased with it. Installation was easy, it's quiet and much faster than the 8yr old Sempron it replaces. I also have a good upgrade path, which didn't seem to be the case with AMD. I'm very happy with it.

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Even though this is a budget dual core without hyper threading, it blows away all the Core2 Quad CPUs and lots of early Core i7 CPUs. The Haswell architecture makes this chip really fast for what it is. Runs cool and quiet on the stock Intel cooler, never gets over 42c even at 100% CPU load. Decent iGPU.

Cons: CPU limited to memory speeds of 800, 1066, and 1333 MHz, a bit slow for a 2014 CPU, even a budget one.

Other Thoughts: Intel is still the king, even in the budget class where some think they can get a better deal elsewhere. Look no further, shoppers, you can have decent performance AND a budget price (not to mention stability and compatibility).

4 out of 5 eggsDecent work CPU

Pros: Works in a pinch

Cons: Not cheap enough

Other Thoughts: I bought this CPU to build a work computer (retired some parts from my gaming PC). I simply had to drop this little guy in the motherboard and it worked instantly. I did however update my BIOS prior to make sure everything's ready.

This processor seems smooth so far, coupled with a cheap PNY SSD for only $60 the system is fast and responsive. I did notice some very slight graphics stuttering when opening and switching Windows 8 apps. That's a tiny bit of disappointment seeing as Win8 apps are hardly anything intensive, but compared to AMD's APU offerings at this price Intel wins by a landslide.

If you're getting this for gaming you'll need a graphics card to go along with it (I recommend the new 750/750 Ti cards) if you're going budget everything.

Overall this is one nice little CPU for the money, but it could be cheaper in my opinion (or come with slightly better graphics) since a few bucks more and you could be grabbing the latest i3s from some stores.

5 out of 5 eggsVery good processor

Pros: Very good processor, it resembles some of the first I3s that came out. Passmark score is impressive an for an office computer it is so much better than the competition. Thermals as compared to my celeron g530 are also impressive, although the pentium consumes more power it doesn't go over 40 C with the stock cooler in a server room.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: If you are having trouble with it is probably because you need to update your bios as this is a Haswell-E processor.
