5 out of 5 eggsFantastic Processor

Pros: Great performance, runs very cool with stock cooler (38c). I use this in a home lab server, runs 6VMs with no issues, paired it with a Z77-HD4, been running 24/7 for over a year now no issues. will be buying another one once they are in stock again.

Cons: Not really a con, but $300 for a proc wish it was lower, but you get what you pay for.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Proc

Pros: *Supports a decent amount of ram
*VT-xd suppoprt
*Works in many non server boards
*Hyper Threading is a very nice touch

Cons: I don't know.... No real drawbacks to this processor.

Other Thoughts: Get this if you aren't planning on getting a video card. I got this on sale for quite a bit less than its current price, but it's still a steal. If getting a video card get the 1230V2... Probably the best price/performance in a LONG time. I have had this running 24/7 in a virtualization environment (5+ VMs at ALL TIMES) for the last 6 months and I haven't had any issues thus far. I really wouldn't jump for the 1275V2 as it's 100 dollars more for a minuscule increase in performance. Thanks Intel and Newegg!

5 out of 5 eggsXeon E3-1245 V2

Pros: - Runs cool
- Integrated Graphics work great
- Handles multiple VMs well

Cons: - Stock heatsink sucks

Other Thoughts: I bought this Xeon for a home lab server so I could host multiple VMs for testing. I at first was running ESXi 5.1 with no problems but have since migrated over to Windows 2012 with Hyper-V and it runs just as smooth. I haven't fully set up my lab environment with all the VMs that I want running at once, but I have run four (Win7, Win8, BT5, Ubuntu) and it didn't have any performance drops. I did run prime95 on it for a little while and it averaged around 50C with a 23C ambient but that was with a Noctua and not the stock heatsink.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Processor

Pros: Gets the job done.

Has VT-d, VT-x, Turbo Boost 2.0, and etc. Do a web search for 'Intel E3-1245 V2' for full list of features--click: ARK | Intel link. Works with onboard video since it's a E3-12*5 V2 model.

A lot cheaper and just as fast as the Intel E3-1275 V2.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: Heatsink isn't great, turbo boost won't activate if the processor is too hot, which it usually is under high load with this heatsink. So it goes.

This processor works with 8GB RAM sticks, make sure you're looking at what RAM sticks your motherboard supports. I repeat, READ MOTHERBOARD SUPPORT DOCUMENTS before buying RAM. This is for a server, not for a desktop. Research before buying, read documents as if you own the product already.

4 out of 5 eggsGreat Processor

Pros: Processor is super fast.

Runs very cool.

Does everything as advertised.

Cons: I took a half egg off because the processor won't work with 32GB of RAM, it does not support 8GB sticks. I don't know if this is actually a motherboard issue or a processor issue, but since the memory controller is on the CPU, I'm guessing it is a problem with the CPU.

I also took half a star off because of the extremely small and cheap heatsink. It cools the processor OK, but is a little loud when the processor is loaded. I'd prefer is Intel went back to the beefer heatsinks so the fan wouldn't have to spin so fast and wouldn't be so loud.

Other Thoughts: It is a shame that Intel killed overclocking on all but a few K series processors. Everything should be overclockable, and this is one of the major reason I'm building mostly AMD computers. Intel might be the better performer, but there really isn't anything an AMD processor can't do and I like being able to overclock and tinker with my processors a little.
