5 out of 5 eggsYes

This review is from: Crucial Ballistix Tactical 8GB (2 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) Low Profile Desktop Memory Model BLT2K4G3D1608ET3LX0

Pros: Get a good mobo and you will be able to overclock the hell out of these. Low cost, Low volt, highly tweakable.
easiest build I have ever done.

Cons: No so far after burn-in.

Other Thoughts: GigaByte Z97-D3H v1.1 F8 Bios
G3258 @4.3 1.2v
Corsair HX520
Antec300
Was waiting to pull trigger on a new machine and noticed that most people having trouble with OCing RAM have an inexpensive mobo in general. I spent a little extra money and this has allowed me to get great results with the RAM and CPU. Here is what I have done with this RAM:
8-8-8-24 2T 1600 1.35v
9-9-9-27 2T 2133 1.5v
7-7-7-21 2T 1600 1.5v
All stable using multiple bench and burn-in suites.
I liked the 7-7-7-21 with the processor @4.3 with 1.2v

4 out of 5 eggsGreat performance at 1333

This review is from: Crucial Ballistix Tactical 8GB (2 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) Low Profile Desktop Memory Model BLT2K4G3D1608ET3LX0

Pros: Gigabyte GA-P45T-ES3G P45 Socket 775 motherboard works great when BIOS Set to XMP Profile 2 (1.5V) and FSB 333 (DDR3-1333). Memory timings are automatically set at 7-8-8-24 @666 (verified by CPUID, Prime stable).

Cons: Have not been able to get this RAM to work at FSB 400 (DDR3-1600). No matter what I try (all combinations of manual and automatic BIOS memory settings), system will not boot with FSB 400 (memory @800).

Other Thoughts: For now, I'm content to run my system at FSB 333 (memory at 666, 7-8-8-24) but would like to run at FSB 400 (memory at 800, 8-8-8-24). Any suggestions?

5 out of 5 eggsUndervolted and speedy

This review is from: Crucial Ballistix Tactical 8GB (2 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) Low Profile Desktop Memory Model BLT2K4G3D1608ET3LX0

Pros: I bought these for a possible mini-ITX mobile computing solution. The low voltage and high speed gave me the possible head room needed to under volt...see below.

Also much smaller than they look. Definitely a plus if you have a monster heat sink.

They don't get hot at all. I am not sure if the heat spreader was added for looks and resale purposes. Even at 1.35v they were only warm to the touch. Passes memtest at 1.30v.

Cons: Heat spreader may be just for looks. Mine do not get hot at all, with no case fans...

Other Thoughts: In the Antec ISK100 case there is only 1 fan, the CPU fan. These heat spreaders are probably just to add bulk and dimension. They really are the smallest I have seen.

I have not tried to overclock these. I am sure 90% of buyers are going that route, with which I am no help this time. I was able to drop down to 1.30v. at 1.29v memtest would throw errors. Even when I widened the gap massively to 11-11-11, 2T and dropped it down to 1033, I could only get down to 1.27v. I suspect the IC needs a preset voltage to keep the memory charged.

it may have been possible to under volt significantly with just 1 DIMM, but there is memory out there already rated for 1.25V.

5 out of 5 eggsSatisfied

This review is from: Crucial Ballistix Tactical 8GB (2 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) Low Profile Desktop Memory Model BLT2K4G3D1608ET3LX0

Pros: My ASRock Z68 Extreme3 Gen3 motherboard immediately recognized the XMP profile at 1.35v / 1600. I removed my old AData XPG CAS9 ram before getting started. Windows 7 x64 rating for memory jumped from 5.9 to 7.1 No difficulties snapping RAM into their slots.

Cons: None

5 out of 5 eggsThoughts after 1 year of ownership

This review is from: Crucial Ballistix Tactical 8GB (2 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) Low Profile Desktop Memory Model BLT2K4G3D1608ET3LX0

Pros: Very responsive. The combination of the 1600 MHz speed and 8 ns CAS latency make this memory extremely fast and low latency. The low voltage is nice because of the added headroom for overclocking, though I ditched my memory overclock in favor a higher stability. Don't get me wrong, these will overclock like champs, but I didn't notice a great difference in speed with the applications I generally use. I was able to get these on sale as well which made them even more enticing. The low profile also makes it easier to use some CPU coolers and configurations, but I haven't had a problem with a CM Hyper 212 EVO even with full height memory since they aren't that wide.

Cons: Doesn't cook me dinner.

Other Thoughts: I have been using these for over a year now and have had no issues. The only thing I regret is not buying the 16 GB kit, but by the time I upgrade I'll probably buy DDR4 anyway. The price to performance ratio on this memory was so good that I couldn't justify getting anything else.

My build (built 2013):
4670k - CM Hyper 212 EVO
ASUS Z87-Pro
Samsung 840 128 GB
Radeon HD 7790
NZXT H230

5 out of 5 eggs

This review is from: Crucial Ballistix Tactical 8GB (2 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) Low Profile Desktop Memory Model BLT2K4G3D1608ET3LX0

Pros: Low profile, low voltage RAM with colorful yellow heat sinks and Crucial quality. Easily loaded the XMP profile in the BIOS of an ASRock 990FX Extreme4. The packaging is reusable and doesn't require the jaws of life to open. Made in the United States.

Cons: None.

Other Thoughts: My family has purchased two sets of this RAM; one was bought over a year ago for my father's build, and the second set was recently acquired for mine.

5 out of 5 eggs7.9 WEI no fuss no muss at 1.35v

This review is from: Crucial Ballistix Tactical 8GB (2 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) Low Profile Desktop Memory Model BLT2K4G3D1608ET3LX0

Pros: This ram kit has given me exactly what I was looking for to go with my Intel E-1230 v2 processor, namely WEI 7.9 memory index performance at 1.35v.

Cons: Not really a con, but, after trying a little overclocking at no more than 1.4 volts, I was unable to get anywhere (even lower latency or higher bandwidth) - so I gave up and went back to the XMP profile settings.

Other Thoughts: Since I'm just running one pair of sticks, I did change to the 1N command rate.
