5 out of 5 eggsGood Value M550

Pros: I got the M550 for $50 on sale!
Works great for an Operating System Drive.
Windows loads in about 5 seconds.
Good drive for the Price.
It has ECC and Encryption.

Cons: Can't fit all my programs but I wasn't expecting to. I put all my files and programs on different hard drives.

Flash memory has a limited write and read cycles.

No real cons as of yet.

Other Thoughts: Was easy to clone my existing operating system drive and copy to the M550. It took me a while to shrink a 1tb drive down to 128gb haha. Make sure if you clone a drive that the ssd partition alignment is the same as the one your cloning. You can use diskpart or other tools to achieve the alignment.

3 out of 5 eggsOK

Pros: Works OK and price was right on-sale.

Cons: Bought two. Installed one in an old laptop. Works fine but have had a couple blue screens since installing. Never saw this with original drive.

Other Thoughts: Have Kingston V300 in another old laptop of the same model and it has been rock solid so think I will go with Kingston on future purchases.

4 out of 5 eggsWorks well

Pros: Inexpensive, easy installation, read speeds much higher than mechanical hard drives.

Cons: Not as fast as some others. I have 2 Adata drives that are faster.

Other Thoughts: Very good drive, at a very decent price. Overall, you will be happy if you purchase this. Even though Adata is faster, this is still MUCH faster than any mechanical drive. Also, with bios tweaking, I could get faster speeds. I cannot enable all options because I also have a legacy mechanical drive in my build.

2 out of 5 eggsCrucial M550CT - looked promising, but no go

Pros: Specs look good, and I've had good luck in the past with Crucial products.

Cons: Probably defective, but possibly just incompatible with my installation. Win7 installed okay, but would not boot... went straight into memory dump every time. Tried as a secondary drive but just went right into chkdsk scan.

Other Thoughts: I've had good luck putting Crucial SSD's into Thinkpad laptops, but always the 100MX product. This was my first attempt using this particular model. Tried three times before giving up. It seems others have had better luck than I had. Maybe it's just not compatible with Thinkpads, but more likely I just got a bad drive. NewEgg RMA'd without issue.

5 out of 5 eggsOver 1,100 MBs read speed!

Pros: I bought two from newegg. :) Using them in raid-0. A huge jump in speed and I was using Crucial REALSSD's in raid 0. Switched to the M550's and put the old drives in one of my other systems.
Atto benchmark read 1104 MB/s write 710 MB/s.
AS SSD benchmark read 990.78 MB/s write 646.54 MB/s total score 1412. If you're looking for stability, dependability and the fastest drives out there. These should be your ONLY choice!

Cons: None that I see except maybe that I don't have two more!

Other Thoughts: Asus, Rampage V Extreme, i7 5950, Crucial Ballistix 4X4 DDR4-2400, Voltair Thermoelectric, EVGA GTX 980, HX1050, Crucial M550 SSD's raid 0

5 out of 5 eggsCrucial Equals Reliability

Pros: Reliable technology.

Faster than other Crucial SSDs.

Cons: none

Other Thoughts: We actually have the earlier M500 and it's been absolutely consistent and reliable. This newer M550 is faster than our older one. Was able to try out the M550 in a friend's PC and can confirm that Write speeds are superior, especially considering that this is only 120GB capacity which usually have only moderate Write speed.

5 out of 5 eggsVery good

Pros: RAIN technology
fast
of course quiet
runs cool

Cons: none as of yet

Other Thoughts: I haven't owned it for too long. I have a Samsung 120GB drive that holds my WIN 8 operating system.

I set this drive to G:\.

I use it as you can guess...for 'G'aming. My C:\ drive was over flowing from only 2 games + OS, so I needed a secondary SSD drive for fast retrieval of data.
