Wintec 4GB mSATA Solid State Disk 33100003

Pros: It cheap, it's tiny, it low power, it requires no cables, and you can boot from it. It's very easy to screw down to the motherboard, and it's plenty large enough to install any Linux distro and shows up as an ordinary SATA hard drive so there are no BIOS or OS tricks to install or boot.

Cons: None. You would wish for more space or even cheap, but that will come with time.

Other Thoughts: I installed it in a DN2800MT. Motherboards with mSATA support are still hard to find, but I hope that changes in the next year because the mSATA form factor is ideal for embedded storage devices.

Pros: works with n2800 cedartrail intel atom mobo. very fast! no wires for install.

Cons: be sure that your mobo has standoffs and screws. its it's job to have those, not the DOM module. also, the DOM did not work in the smaller msata port on the intel mobo but it DID work GREAT on the pci-e slot! the brown shipping box said pci-e and it really is; but it acts like a sata module.

Other Thoughts: I was about to return it when it did not show up in bios in its 'proper' m-sata slot. for the heck of it, I tried it in the pci-e slot and it works. I'm running voyage (mpd) linux for audio server use and an install should be 2gb or less in a headless webserver-based audio-out system. my big disks are a NAS and this is my silent audio player. audio is via 'usb audio widget' on diyaudio (for great results).

Pros: Works as advertised.

Cons: Doesn't fit quite right into the msata port on my motherboard. There's a small component on the circuit board of the ssd that is too close to the msata socket of the motherboard. So when I push the ssd down to lock it to the motherboard, it gets pushed out of the socket just a bit on one side. For me, it's quite annoying. It doesn't come with screws either.

Other Thoughts: Using this in a low-power Ubuntu-based router. Fresh server install takes about 1GB, so there's still plenty of room for log files.

Pros: Inexpensive

Cons: To early to tell.
Please ignore my rating for the part since I haven't yet had a chance to test it.

Other Thoughts: This device is actually mSata not mini PCIe.
The connectors are identical but if your motherboard doesn't support mSata then this device won't do anything.
I'm still waiting for a DN2800MT to test this card in.

Pros: small size

Cons: Did not work at all and would not let board boot up.

Other Thoughts: Tried this on an Intel BOX525MW board that has the PCIe connector built in. Removing it allowed board to boot up normally. Otherwise it would be a great bargain compared to other SSD out there. RMA soon.
