Great things come in small packages! Based on 34nm Intel NAND Flash Memory, the Intel Solid-State Drive 310 Series offers similar performance to a 2.5 Intel Solid-State Drive (Intel SSD), but in an eighth of the size. High-performance in a compact mSATA footprint enables dual-drive storage for traditional embedded platforms, as well as a single drive option for innovative, low-power handheld devices.

Reduced boot time? You got it. Increased system benchmark performance? Yes, it’s there. Longer battery life? The Intel SSD 310 Series has you covered.

  • newegg Lightweight for On-the-Go computing The mSATA Intel SSD 310 Series enables a flexible, scalable and accelerated storage solution in a form factor that is up to 8 times smaller than a 2.5 hard-disk drive, and weighs 10 times less. Supporting SATA signals over a PCI Express (PCIe) mini-connector, the Intel SSD 310 Series provides compact storage acceleration for single-drive systems like netbooks, tablets and other hand-held devices.
  • newegg High performance Dual-Drive option The small footprint also augments hard-disk drive performance in dual-drive systems, such as all-in-ones, notebooks and small-form-factor (SFF) desktops. The mSATA form factor connects easily to an existing mSATA port on a PC enabling the SSD to perform as a boot drive, quick access to frequently-used applications or storage.
  • newegg SSD Ruggedness With no moving parts, Intel SSD offers a revolutionary breakthrough that delivers a giant leap in storage performance. Designed to satisfy the most demanding gamers, media creators and technology enthusiasts, the Intel SSD 310 Series brings a high level of performance and reliability to a small form factor by utilizing the powerful 10-channel controller architecture of the Intel X25-M SATA Solid-State Drive series.
  • newegg Capacities to fit your needs Whether you chose the 40GB or 80GB capacity, the Intel SSD 310 Series provides the storage performance that fits your innovative designs. Make your system come alive with an Intel SSD 310 Series.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Little SSD

Pros: Lightning Fast, Doesn't use my HDD bay.

Cons: Intel SSD Toolbox isn't Linux compatible.

Other Thoughts: Bought this drive to use as a boot drive, which it performed flawlessly. It is now hosting my primary linux distro+data, while a larger SSD takes care of Windows+data.

5 out of 5 eggsUpdate

Pros: SSD responsiveness, reliable - no faults. Intel SSD toolbox lets you run trim as required. mSATA lets me utilize the otherwise unused connector on my laptop. Makes a fine boot drive and made my laptop much more responsive.

Cons: TRIM didn't seem to work and the drive was slowing down even though I tried to clear out enough space (about 15GB of the 70ish available) for it to work with.

It's still not the fastest drive even when at top speed.

Other Thoughts: After fiddling with it and getting repeated horrible performance verified with AS-SSD and hdtach, I did the unthinkable - I "defragged" the drive as a last ditch effort before I re-installed everything, and surprisingly it worked. Performance is now pretty consistent and comes close to matching the advertised numbers (200/70). The intel SSD toolbox reports no problems with the drive after a year and a half, including almost a year where this was my primary computer.

5 out of 5 eggsFast and Reliable.

Pros: This drive is quit fast and reliable. I'm using in SRT mode and there is a noticeable difference in speed. I got this after I got a ocz nocti drive kept freezing while I was running my PC. I even have 11 GB of spare space left.

Cons: It will one day fail :(

3 out of 5 eggs8MB Bug

Pros: Its a SSD

Cons: Intel continues having issues with 8mb bug. Symptoms of this bug only 8mb usable space. Serial number of msata or hard drive wiped away. System will randomly detect drive is available in system. Before using any Intel ssd I confirm the drive is running latest and greatest firmware. Even after confirming correct firmware version I still have an ongoing issue with this bug. Over all out of 80 units of msata 80 GB drive I have had 20 fail with this bug with no fix. Some drives have shown issue right after a full install of windows. Other drives have shown issue after a few days. I have compare manufacture data revision stock and have not found and common signs.

5 out of 5 eggsmSata review with x220

Pros: Overall, the mSata has been a great upgrade for my ThinkPad x220. It is definitely faster than the HDD and loads Windows and applications very quickly, which is the reason why I made the purchase. I haven't had any installation (which was easy) or other technical problems that some users have experienced.

Cons: I chose the Intel 80GB version because I read that it was reliable. However, I wish I had about 40 GB more to play with. I still have 19GB available after installing Win 7 and apps, but I always would like more space if possible.

Other Thoughts: If you are considering a mSata to pair with the mechanical internal hard drive, you should not hesitate to make this purchase.

5 out of 5 eggsIntel 310 Series 80GB mSATA

Pros: Installed the drive in a Acer Iconia W500 to replace the 32gb drive that was in there. Now I can run Win7 Pro, Win8 Dev Preview without a problem.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: Didnt install itself since it was a pain to just open up the case on the Acer, but with a little patience and a couple plastic knives I was able to do it without messing up the back shell of the tablet.

5 out of 5 eggsIntel 310 series 80 gb SSD

Pros: -Incredibly small physical size for the storage space.

-Reasonably priced80 gb is sweet spot for me-large enough to install Windows 7 pro 64-bit and necessary programs (Matlab, Mathematica, Maple, Finale) and still have head room for future programs.

-Compared to HDD, speed increase is like night and day. Although not as fast as intel 320, for my purposes this is fast enough

-Good compromise between speed and storage when used in conjunction with a traditional HDD

-Increases battery life (for laptops) compared to stock HDD

-Intel SSD's are the most reliable SSD's out there

Cons: -Cost can still be expensive for some

-Not as fast as non mSATA SSD

Other Thoughts: Totally worth the initial cost. Saves me so much time waiting for boot-up/loading programs like matlab.

5 out of 5 eggsMiniPCIe != mSATA

Pros: I am sure for the small handfull of laptops that support mSATA this is a grea SSD.

Also, if you have a Z68 based intel motherboard then you could possible use this as a cache for your drives if you are willing to install and use the intel Rapid Storage drivers.

Cons: For everyone (the majority of people) who have just a normal mini PCIe slot, this product will not work.

Other Thoughts: Why on the green earth did we take a "standard" and then make it do something completely different? Argh.

5 out of 5 eggsAwesome

Pros: This drive rocks. Installed it into an Acer W500 tablet which came with a 32GB SSD. This drive allows me to dual boot with Windows 7 and Windows 8 Developer Preview.

Cons: Nothing so far. This drive is fast.

5 out of 5 eggsFabulous in my T420s

Pros: This is my boot drive for my Thinkpad T420s. Reduced boot from 45 sec to about 16 sec on Win7 Pro. Very snappy performance. If you have a Thinkpad that supports this drive, highly recommended!

Cons: None so far.

Other Thoughts: I put all of my "Program" files on this drive and "User" files on my conventional drive. Now, after several months of use, this drive has about 30GB free, even with a 6GB hiberfil and 8 GB pagfile
