Manufacturer Warranty

Parts
5 years limited
All Intel SSD 520 products sold in the OEM boxes have a five-year limited warranty term; however, the warranty includes a "Media Wearout" limitation. The Media Wearout limitation provides that the warranty shall expire when the usage of the drive has reached a predetermined usage limit established by Intel, which could result in a warranty term much shorter than five years for drives used in heavy-use, enterprise applications. The Media Wearout is determined by Intel's implementation of the SMART attribute "E9" Media Wearout indicator (as measured by and shown in the Intel SSD Toolbox, www.intel.com/go/ssdtoolbox). At any point during the warranty term, if the Media Wearout Indicator reads "1", as measured by the Intel SSD Toolbox, then the drive has reached its wear limit and the Limited Warranty at that point expires, regardless of how much time may have been remaining on the five-year term. This Media Wearout limitation is imposed due to the greater workload demands of enterprise/data center deployment on SSDs.

1 out of 5 eggsWorked great for about a month

Pros: Easy install, comes with proper cables. Was a bit faster than my OCZ Vortex 2 which it replaced in daily use.

Cons: Died in about a month. Got it during black friday sale. Went to bed two days ago, turned off machine. Wouldn't boot in the morning. Good thing I hadn't formatted my old OCZ Vortex 2 120GB. Popped it back in and had minimal data loss. Ugh, now I have to figure out how to return it to Best Buy as an online purchase. Now I wish I had gotten it from Newegg, so much easier to deal with.

Other Thoughts: First SSD to die on me. And I bought it specifically for longevity of Intel SSDs. Guess they fail just the same as others. Now who to choose?

1 out of 5 eggsDidn't work at all.

Pros: Were shipped quickly.

Cons: Ordered two of these, neither one worked out of the box. Have sent them back will see what the replacements do.

Other Thoughts: Be careful ordering these. Bounced around between websites looking for availability and price, didn't realize they come in three different versions. Ended up getting the OEM version with no cables or brackets. Less to return.

5 out of 5 eggsWorks Great as Expected

Pros: Fast, Silent, Dependable. Everything loads faster, including web pages.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: This is the second Intel SSD I've purchased. First one was an 80 GB that I Purchased a year and a half ago. It's still running strong and as fast as the first day I installed.

Pros: Fast, silent and an easy install.

Luckily I bought an adapter so I was fine.

Other Thoughts: Amazing for my first ssd and no hiccups or issues after a month of use so far.

5 out of 5 eggsFantastic performance, great deal

Pros: The 520 series is a wonderful series for Intel SSD's. I have purchased several of these, I use one in my laptop and one in my desktop.
I also have used them for client's systems that I built.
So far, not a hiccup or a single failure, I have been tempted by other brands, but the reliability of the intel drives are hard to beat.

Cons: None really other than being a bit pricier than the competition.
I feel you get what you pay for at least when it comes to SSD's.

5 out of 5 eggsbest ssd I have owned

Pros: I own several SSD's and this is the first one that has caused no problems AND comes close to its published specs.

Cons: Price

Other Thoughts: It is the only drive I own that I trust as my OS/programs drive, but that's not to say that I trust it enough not to have a completely cloned standing by.

I bought it with a Newegg sale price AND a $50 Intel rebate, but the regular price it still too high. SSD prices have been dropping significantly since the end of May '12, except for Intel. When Intel prices finally come down to earth, I will by another.
