5 out of 5 eggsSTill working great a year later

This review is from: SanDisk SDSSDP-256G-G25 2.5" 256GB SATA III Internal Solid State Drive (SSD)

Pros: Fast
Reliable
affordable

Overall at the time I felt this was the best SSD in its price range. I am still very happy with my purchase, It is still as fast as the day i bought it. OS boot times of about 5 seconds

Cons: I wish it had higher IOPS but i cant doc an egg for that because it clearly says in the description.

Other Thoughts: If you are on the fence, just go for it. IT is absolutely worth every penny

4 out of 5 eggsI like it, works good.

This review is from: SanDisk SDSSDP-256G-G25 2.5" 256GB SATA III Internal Solid State Drive (SSD)

Pros: Very easy to install. Didn't give me any problems with OS or installation. Pretty fast. Actually it is very fast, I say pretty fast because I am comparing to a Toshiba Q series SSD which is slightly faster according to the windows experience rating and I noticed the the hard disk rating will change depending on what kind of RAM you are using but over all I am happy with it and could say that I would recommend it.

Cons: Not really any, only that I find the Toshiba Q series SSD's to be little faster than this one but I would still rcommend this SanDisk SSD and would not talk bad about it. Had for over a month and works great still and no problems.

5 out of 5 eggsFAST!

This review is from: SanDisk SDSSDP-256G-G25 2.5" 256GB SATA III Internal Solid State Drive (SSD)

Pros: Very fast, got it before Christmas for cheap. Great SSD. My first but I will buy from SanDisk again.

Cons: It just sits in a 3.5 bay since most towers don't have 2.5 bays. Not a big deal because I never move my PC.

5 out of 5 eggsUsed for Intel Smart Response

This review is from: SanDisk SDSSDP-256G-G25 2.5" 256GB SATA III Internal Solid State Drive (SSD)

Pros: Fast. Worked without a problem, no surprises!

Cons: None really. If you want to a pro oem install job on most desktops, you'll need to buy a $3.99 2.5" to 3.5" converter converter for your 3.5" drive bay.

Other Thoughts: I bought this to install as a 64GB caching SSD utilizing Intel Smart Response Technology.

Smart response works with a maximum of 64 GB, and I was looking for a cheap way to improve performance of my new build and this was the least expensive 64GB SSD with a recognizable brand name.

Long story short the disk worked perfectly, was instantly recognized by Windows, and the Smart Response config app.

I made a big difference in the performance of my PC.

I'm completely satisfied with the performance. My cached C: drive read and write speeds match exactly the reviews and benchmarks I've seen where more expensive samsung SSDs are used as the caching SSD.

It doesn't include a 2.5 to 3.5 converter to fit in a desktop drive bay. Honestly, while I was installing it in the converter I bought in addition to the drive, it seemed like complete overkill. If I had it to do again I'd probably just attach it somewhere in the case with velcro or something.

I'm think I'm going to buy another one to breath life in an older thinkpad laptop.

1 out of 5 eggsWaste of time

This review is from: SanDisk SDSSDP-256G-G25 2.5" 256GB SATA III Internal Solid State Drive (SSD)

Pros: Nice color, pretty packaging

Cons: Does not work at all - wasted 4 hr before I gave up. Can see the SSD in Device Manager and BIOS but have no access to it and don't see it under My Computer. Sandisk Toolkit did not help at all either.

Manufacturer Response:

I noticed you checked Device Manager, Bios but don't mention Disk Management. Be sure to check the drive is partitioned and formatted in Disk Management. It won't show under MyComputer without partition/format. If still having problems, try contacting SanDisk Technical Support.

5 out of 5 eggsBang for Buck

This review is from: SanDisk SDSSDP-256G-G25 2.5" 256GB SATA III Internal Solid State Drive (SSD)

Pros: Works perfectly

Cons: It clearly states it's speeds--it's not the fastest drive out there

Other Thoughts: I bought this on sale for $133--that is an amazing price for an SSD that performs admirably! 7.5 WEI

The Corsair GS that costs about $230 gave me a 7.9 WEI. I'll save $100 and lose a microsecond of my life here and there...

1 out of 5 eggsThis Is a First!

This review is from: SanDisk SDSSDP-256G-G25 2.5" 256GB SATA III Internal Solid State Drive (SSD)

Pros: Clean looking and VERY LIGHT WEIGHT!

Cons: Nice housing with nothing inside. Yep, an SSD with no silicon chips.

Other Thoughts: : I purchased this unit to use as a back-up/clone drive for an experimental build. When it arrived I thought ‘Wow, this is really LIGHT WEIGHT!’; well, if the housing is empty then it should be. I weighed a normal 128Gig SSD and this thing; the 128Gig unit weighed in at 3.0 OZ while the ‘empty housing’ was less than an ounce.

I have to wonder what was going on in the SanDisk assembly plant that allowed this to happen.

When I called Newegg about this they immediately issued an RMA, emailed me a prepaid UPS return label, (something they have NEVER done before), and informed me that they would refund the purchase price as soon as they received the unit. Very cool. I immediately ordered another 256Gig SSD by a different manufacturer.

Consider me a very satisfied Newegg customer!
