5 out of 5 eggsImpressive performance

Pros: Fastest bang for the buck. Definately impressed with it's performance in the short span of ownership.

Cons: Need a few for failover purposes unlike disk ssd's.

4 out of 5 eggsExpensive But Fast!!!

Pros: Very, very Fast. I'm getting 5x the speed I was getting with my hard drive raid array.

It is user upgradeable so you can start small and upgrade the memory when necessary.
If money is no object, and you have room for a long card, there is no better.

Cons: Pricey. It's brother, the OCZ RevoDrive X2 had an effective speed that was more than adeqate and was much better bang for our buck. (the X2 is also shorter and it is currently easier to find a free PCI-E x4 slot than a PCI-E x8 slot)

Other Thoughts: This is a long card. It wouldn't fit into the Dell R910 server until we took out one of the redundant fans and cut into the metal fan tray.

1 out of 5 eggsfast but seems to still be in the developmental phase

Pros: Fast! We were able to get over 800MB/s

Cons: We have 4 of these at work and 2 of them aren't working after only a few weeks. These have an internal 8-way RAID 0 and a few of the flash modules stoped being detected at bootup. The fault seems to be with the flash module slots that you see in the pictures, they are really picky about how the module is seated.

Other Thoughts: trusting data to an 8-way RAID 0 is pushing it. It does have an option to run RAID 1 with half the storage space. Hopefully they will add a RAID 5 option in the future.

Manufacturer Response:

Thank you

5 out of 5 eggsFaster than a speeding bullet ...

Pros: Very simple to install. Plug it in to any 8 bit PCI-E slot that is not sharing bandwidth with another slot. Adjust the boot priority in the bios. Load Windows (no F6 but the included sheet does tell you to format the drive). Ready to go.

Did I mention fast? The Windows 7 (64) Welcome screen goes by so fast you cannot read it. Outlook loads in 2 seconds.

Cons: No TRIM (yet). But the background Garbage Collection, lots of free space, and an occassional run with PerfectDisk 11 (define the drive as 'SSD') should keep it happy for a long time without any slowdown.

Minimal documentation or tech/forum support.

And, in case you hadn't noticed ... pricey.

Other Thoughts: Definitely an upper end enthusiast/pro-sumer/enterprise piece of technology but OCZ has put together a remarkable product. PCI-E has relegated SATA to the box holding the slide rules, carbon paper, 8 track tape players, fax machines, etc.
