Pros: ran fine when we first got it

Cons: after a few months it wouldn't work on our PC's, am working with the manufacturer to see what my options are with it.

3 out of 5 eggsDecent Drive

Pros: Fast transfer speeds, good price for size, quiet, good heat dissipation, activity light that clearly lets you see what is happening.

Cons: The only con is that the drive has recently started failing, not so much that I cannot retrive data, but files are corrupting. I hope that this is just a problem from a bad drive, not that this model is low-quality.

Other Thoughts: Will request RMA.

3 out of 5 eggsRefurbished drive

Pros: It is what it is, an external hard drive, and plenty inexpensive. I find it quiet, and cool. No issues here.I'm sure a lot depends on what drive you get inside.

Cons: Mine contains a 160GB 1.5Gb/s Maxtor refurbished drive. I believe the manufacturer should state this, just as it should when selling bare drives. I seen another review stating the same, and had to get one myself (open and void the warranty) to find out. Yep...refurbished.

Other Thoughts: A buyer can only make an informed decision when he knows all the facts. Whether to purchase a new or refurbished drive is important information and shouldn't be omitted. Caveat emptor on this one gang...

2 out of 5 eggsCouldn't Recognize

Pros: Compact design, good lengths on power cords for an External.

Cons: Recognized the drive right out of the box, but after turning the drive on and off a few and moving it between computers, drive became unrecognizable. At first it would recognize the drive, but wouldn't allow me to create any folders or move files to it. Tried formatting, no luck. Then drive would disappear from My Computer and Windows would say it was an unrecognizable USB Device. Shouldn't be this hard, should be able to plug in and go!

4 out of 5 eggsWorks Better Than Expected

Pros: This Harddrive works better than the brand name one I bought at the store. It transfer decently fast. It comes on instantly and never has issues with my setup. Super easy to install - plug and play on XP. doesn't vibrate and doesnt get too hot. The LED is also cool, and it works well.

Cons: The AC adapter feels cheap, but it works.

Other Thoughts: Great for backing up my stuff.

1 out of 5 eggsBooooo!

Pros: Cheap! very useful for transferring all my large files and other important stuff while I reformat my pc.

Cons: The Hard drive stopped working in a matter of 2 months! It turns on and the drive spins, but no pc will recognize it making it a useless cheap dud. it's also made of refurbished parts so i should of saw this coming.

Other Thoughts: Not worth it at all. Fork over 30 dollars more for something better and more reliable. seriously.

5 out of 5 eggsWorks great

Pros: It works great. It is quiet, fast and feels very durable. PnP, no problems with it working.

Cons: It is a little big and heavy. But dont let that change your mind about getting this unless you are needing something small and light, because for the price this is a good external HDD so far.

Other Thoughts: NEWEGG ROCKS!!! I LOVE NEWEGG!! I CAN'T EXIST WITHOUT YOU NEWEGG!!

4 out of 5 eggsWorks well on PC, MACs require some attention.

Pros: Fast read and write time to H/D, formatted in under a minute, 10 ms times. Worked out of the box on Windows based systems.

Cons: A bit heavy, but not unreasonable unless planning on traveling with this unit from day to day. Somewhat loud on start but noise dissipates after a short time. To get this hard drive operational out of the box on a MAC required some additional setup. It would not work out of the box, as it needed to be formatted from within the MAC OS but that was a minor set back.

Other Thoughts: Good unit for the price.
