Worked just fine, but not for long
This review is from: Fujitsu MHW2080BH 80GB 5400 RPM 8MB Cache SATA 1.5Gb/s 2.5" Notebook Hard Drive Retail
Pros: Great price, super slim size, and a fairly quiet drive. It worked just fine in an external case to use as a portable drive to transfer data between my home and work PC. No external power needed, as a USB connection supplies plenty of power to use the drive on its own.
Cons: It died on me after only the second time using it. To be more specific, it spins up, but soon starts clicking (head crashing sound). It then spins down, and spins up again to full power for a few seconds, then clicking, and dead again. I partitioned and formatted it, then transfered data the first time I used it. I then got it ready to use a month later, and it was dead. Hopefully I just received a dud. It did originally arrive in an anti-static, sealed by Fujitsu, so it was most likely defective from the manufacturer.
Other Thoughts: Fujitsu will not accept RMAs on their items still covered by the warranty if the item was purchased "OEM" (not in a box). Fujitsu claims OEM item warranties should be honored by the vendor selling me the item. Newegg helped me out, and honored the Fujitsu warranty for my RMA. Kudos to Newegg for taking care of its customers.
