4 out of 5 eggsLOUD! But still a great Hard Drive

Pros: Functions perfect, extremely fast and is great as an OS hard drive.

Cons: Very very very loud. Very loud. Did i mention loud? Unfortunatly its the loudest component in my system, I'm thinking of putting it in the back port of my Thermaltake Armor case to dampen the sound.

5 out of 5 eggsFast!

Pros: Fast! This hard drive is the one. Do yourself a favor and buy it! You will really like the performance gained compared to the slower drives. I first installed a WD 500GB SE16 hard drive in my system as the OS drive. Then, a local store had this drive on sale for less than what Newegg is currently charging. So, I decided to upgrade. I rebuilt the system and was amazed at how much quicker the system is now. Vista 64-bit now boots in less than 20 seconds from pressing the power button on my machine to the desktop! No other machine that I have used is that fast! Yes, the drive does make a difference!

Cons: Yes, there is a slight drawback. The drive does make some noise. LOL! In terms of the sound, it will remind you of those older hard drives that use to crank out the decibels in a bad computer case. Yet the noise is really not that loud. You can hear it working sometimes, but other times you'll hardly know it's there.

Other Thoughts: Buy it! Crysis, COD4, Team Fortress 2, and UT3 are blazing with this drive! Buy it now!

5 out of 5 eggsTop Notch

Pros: The performace of this drive is top notch. You will notice a boost in boot times as well as application load times over a normal 7,200 RPM drive. Installation was a breaze. No jumpers needed to be set and the cables provided fit well (I've had some SATA cables that were too wide for most normal power connecters). Hands down the fastest drive I've ever owned.

Cons: No formating software was provided. In most cases you wouldn't need it but if you did you would be on your own to get one. On past Raptor drives a 5 year warranty is offered but not on this model. You only get 1 year.

Other Thoughts: Nosie and heat levels weren't as bad as some have stated. Some of my fans are louder. At full speed you can hear the drive well but thats few and far between. In my case the temp stays around 23C (idle) with a single 80mm fan infront of the drive cage. When installing drives like this make sure you secure them well. You can also use anti-vibration (ie strips or rings)to help with noise. I will buy another for the perfomace factor alone.

5 out of 5 eggssmokin' fast

Pros: Black. Loud, Orgasmically fast; Like your first vibrator.

Cons: A little loud, but find me a drive that rotates this fast that isn't. It's actually quieter than the 10k rpm WD drive it replaced. I don't really notice, I use on my gaming box I call the "Black Box" Noise is not an issue when i'm gaming.

Other Thoughts: Expensive, but In 15 years I don't think i've ever had a WD Hard drive fail me. WD has free tools that allow you to upgrade from an old WD drive to a new one, makes it super simple and tells you the changes you need to make to make the new drive the primary when you are done. A nice touch.

4 out of 5 eggsGood, but...

Pros: Fast, Sata, Looks awesome, window so you can see it in performace

Cons: It is soooo loud. Like it is unbelievably loud. At first I thought it was my mobo, but I looked at the HD and it is just soo loud.

Other Thoughts: I have noticed a small difference between this drive and my 7200 rpm drive. For the price difference, just go with a SATA WD Caviar.

5 out of 5 eggsFast!

Pros: This drive is quite and fast. Noticeable difference between a 7200 and 10000rpm drives. Access times have dropped considerably.

Cons: Wish I would have bought 2 for Raid 0 config.

Other Thoughts: Price you can't beat. So far, no problems.

5 out of 5 eggsThe Best

Pros: Simply put, It is the fastest!
I have 10 raptors. None have failed. All those that have claimed failure or worst HD are the exception or newbies that claim to be experts. At 150 sata the Raptor is way faster the the best 300.. including most WD Hard drives at 300.

Cons: NONE

5 out of 5 eggsYou can hear it O.o

Pros: I use this hard-drive on a RAID0 configuration with nVidia MeatShield. I have got to say that it loads everything extremely fast. I am a gamer, and I love World of Warcraft, and it loads my character in under 1 second. Applications that I place on the hard-drives load extremely fast, especially games.

Cons: The only downside of this is that you can hear it work. TICKTICKTICK, but it's no big deal I usually have music blasting anyways.

Other Thoughts: If you are going to buy it, get 2 and make it raid. WAY FASTER
