5 out of 5 eggsVery good drive!

Pros: Very solid, was my main when purchased in 2007. Now its a main in my "guest" computer. Very solid drive!

Cons: Nothing for its time!

Other Thoughts: Was a great investment.

1 out of 5 eggsBad Bearings

Pros: Worked during warranty period.

Cons: Starting to fail after warranty period. Purchased May of 2009. The bearings are starting to fail. Will replace with a Seagate.

5 out of 5 eggs3 Years Strong

Pros: I have two of these in a raid 0 array, and I use my computer for an average of 10 hours a day, every day for the last 3 years. I have not had the slightest issue out of these drives.

I have noticed the latest batch seem to be a high DOA %, but WD is a solid company that produces great products. I will buy more from them in the future.

Cons: The cache is small and the speeds are slow.

Other Thoughts: I have abused these drives for several years and they have taken everything I could throw at them. I am really impressed with their lifespan.

5 out of 5 eggs>1 year still working great

Pros: I've been using this since October 2011 as a secondary drive (use a Samsung 128 SSD for prime), but it's heavily used to store movies (not many at 320gb but still) and documents and it's still fast considering not SSD.

Cons: None.

5 out of 5 eggsTypical WD Quality

Pros: Installed as a master drive in a build for a customer. Great, reliable performance for what it is, running in a system based on a Core 2 Quad Q6600 and XFX 680i LT motherboard. No complaints from the customer.

Cons: None.

2 out of 5 eggsLasted just under 3 years

Pros: Decent bang for the buck.

Cons: Didn't even last 3 years.

Other Thoughts: Just had a repeat customer bring their PC to me for repairs. Turns out the hard drive failed. I checked my order history and the drive wasn't even 3 years old. I expected better from Western Digital. I see there are alot of refurbs of this drive for sale now. I'm thinking this particular model was prone to failure.

5 out of 5 eggs4 years and going strong!

Pros: Great Drive! Running 2 of 3 in a raid 5 with no problems what so ever. Had 2 of these drives in my previous build in a raid 0 for 2 years with no issues also!

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: SATA III is so much faster!

3 out of 5 eggsupdate

Pros: they lasted a while
purchased in 2009, and failed 8-4-2012

Cons: failures, first it started out with bad sectors on two of four drives, performed a dod whipe and everthing seemed fine till last night. lost alot of data, turned on my pc and two boards fried on the hdd's, thought maybe my psu was crapping out and overvolted the hdd's, still no clue as to what fried them, psu is fine, switched boards from same model, one doesnt evan spin up and the other is click of death. all hard drives fail and it is very important to back up data! most of my data is backed up but i had new data that was not. i've learned my lessen, never trust any hdd no matter what make or model, and always back up frequently!

Other Thoughts: i'm still buying from western digital as i find them more reliable then others!
