Watch the SMART stats
- Pros: Once you pass the first week, you should be golden. This drive is basically silent in my rig.
- Cons: I ordered three drives and one began exhibiting errors during the first week. Luckily my RAID controller stopped using it and I was able to RMA it without losing any new data.
- Other Thoughts: As with any new drive, watch the SMART data for errors, and consider RMAing any drive that shows errors during the return period. A good drive should only have errors in its SMART data once in a blue moon.
Otherwise, WD drives have always been good to me.
Current generation, mid-level HDD
- Pros: The drive works.
320 GB capacity -- more than enough for the majority of people.
Good $/GB ratio. $48/320 = 15 cents per Gigabyte.
Western Digital is one of the leading HDD manufacturers, they make reliable drives.
3 Year Limited Warranty.
Very quiet.
- Cons: 8 MB cache -- relatively small amount for the current generation of SATA 3.0 GB/s drives, slowing some load times. Regular computer users won't notice a thing.
- Other Thoughts: Inexpensive drive for the average computer user, perhaps too low-end for gamers and performance users, who would prefer a Raptor or similar drive with larger cache and higher RPM, but will pay more.

Great Product
- Pros: Works well and quiet, spacious and great price for the size (45 when I bought it). Arrived in a day after Newegg processed it. The packaging was good and safe. Overall the Hard disk is very reliable so far and I am expecting it to last
- Cons: Foam peanuts in packaging and newegg took 2 days to process (although the shipping took a day) overall its was 3 days to deliver
- Other Thoughts: I bought this hard disk as a replacement for a client who had a hard disk failure. No complaints yet recieved
- Pros: Inexpensive, decent size
- Cons: Even two in RAID0 isn't quite fast enough. Hard drive performance is the lowest score by a significant amount on Windows 7 tests.
- Other Thoughts: Core i7-920, ASUS x58, 6GB DDR3, Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit, EVGA GTX285
