3 out of 5 eggsNot quite 3 years

Pros: Great price at the time, easy to install as a slave drive, fairly quite and cool running.

Cons: WD warranty for 3 years 2 years and 6 months after install the drive failed. If this were my primary drive it'd be one thing but this was my second drive used only for storing pictures and videos.

Other Thoughts: Bought this drive after my OEM drive failed and I had to spend $$ getting my data recovered. Wish I had the $$ for a SSD

1 out of 5 eggsIt Happens

Pros: WD has a great reputation. It was built on performance. Their drives have been bullet-proof over the years. I use them almost exclusively.

Cons: I have had three drives fail in the past three years. The last one was just RMA'd. It had been up for 8 weeks. I feel the quality of WD drives is sliding from what their reputation dictates.

Other Thoughts: Download Data Lifeguard tools for your particular WD drive. If you've seen a HDD go south enough times then it will save you some grief thinking it is other components. Yes, WD was gracious in sending out a replacement even though I must pay shipping on the RMA'd unit. Hey, many companies would tell you to take a hike. Just got hosed this time that's all.

5 out of 5 eggsNo Problems Here

Pros: Quiet. Stable. Reliable. Compatable with most any controller. Plenty of storage space.

Cons: None.

Other Thoughts: To date I own 13 WD HDD's. Of all these one has failed, well past it's rated lifespan. I have installed more than I can count and of those two died, one from overheating and one DOA. Your mileage may vary.

5 out of 5 eggsGoing strong

Pros: I've had this as my primary drive for almost 3 years now with no issues.

Cons: Price.

Other Thoughts: Really good drive but it's pretty expensive. You can get 500 gb for under $50 nowadays.

3 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Worked great as the main HD in a computer used everyday, and now an extra storage on a new computer. Re-formatted a couple of times change partition preferences. Holding up well as far as I can tell.

Cons: Non so far.

Other Thoughts: Although the tech is ageing, still working just fine for me as a dumping/backup/sorting drive.
