Sketchy Start
- Pros: Replacement seems to be just fine.
- Cons: First one arrived DOA. I assume it had a shot drive motor, as there was no platter spin at all. Also, no PC I connected it to would even aknowledge that there was a drive present at all.
- Other Thoughts: While the specs seem just fine, in hindsight from reading others' reviews, I now wonder how long this replacement will last before it dies too. We will see.
Working Well So Far
- Pros: Good capacity, decent price (when purchased, plus promo code) for the ATA technology.
- Cons: Not as fast as my old 7200rpm TravelStar. Not as good value compared to SATA drives.
- Other Thoughts: Seems quiet enough. The speed is really fine... Any difference is lost because I also went from XP on the TravelStar to 7 Pro on this one.
Works ok for older laptops
- Pros: It works in old laptops. Reliable. Works fine still after 3 years.
- Cons: It's not blazing fast, but what do you expect? Kinda pricey. You get ripped off for using ATA drives these days huh?
- Other Thoughts: SATA is the future so it's cheap, ATA is rising in price since no one really makes them anymore.
Anyway, this has been in my laptop for almost 3 years now and it's still tickin' away without any problems. So there ya go.
