Good one
- Pros: It looks great, the blue light looks like the knight rider car. Its well designed, a lot of space. It shuts off automatically when you don't use it = longer life!
- Cons: Cables for power cord and usb are very short. I had to go to the website and download the manager software to run it in vista 64bit.
- Other Thoughts: I have the 2x1Tb edition but its identical to this one. Overall I'm very happy I got this one, raid 1 is excellent if you are paranoid you'll lose all your data because data is mirrored to both drives.
Redundancy
- Pros: Raid 1 redundant, this is what I have been waiting for for awhile make my needed info so much safer that before. 3 yr warranty great!!
- Cons: USB 2.0 spd is lacking a little but fast enough for most back-ups it's just the initial transfer that gets you!!
- Other Thoughts: Should have bought the 2 terrabyte model for $70.00 more but this one will do for the time being
nice data store
- Pros: Easy to use 500 gb RAID1 data store. It's quiet, sleeps when not in use, has a cool blue light and connects via USB. It's the perfect place to put music/pictures/backups for safe keeping. It's also portable if you want to transfer things to another system.
- Cons: Nothing worth an egg. Plug the power supply into a horizontal UPS or powerstrip and it wont come loose. I leave my box on 24/7 so the extra boot time is not an issue. If you don't encrypt your files whoever steals it will have all your data.
- Other Thoughts: I use this for archival purposes and it's perfect for that (no more DVD backups). If you want to access+use your data you might be happier with NAS... although I have a directory on it available to my home network for the gf to use. I just bought her one so I can stop this service ;)
