5 out of 5 eggsStable

Pros: rock solid

Cons: bit on the slow side

Other Thoughts: Owned for 5 years still in use. Not the fastest but rock solid. I wouldn't order this now but still was very good in prime time.

5 out of 5 eggs3 drives, still going strong

Pros: I bought 3 of these back in April of 2010. They've seen daily use in a 3D/video editing/compositing workstation, a whole lot of up time, and still they are going strong with no errors. Run fairly cool.

Cons: Not really a con at this point, but the price on these has shot up (and they've also been replaced with faster 6gb/s models), I believe I paid around 80$ each back in 2010.

Other Thoughts: Still a great investment, these have held up very well.

5 out of 5 eggsStill working

Pros: Originally purchased 6/16/2009.
It still works.
It was cheap at the time.
It was fast at the time.

Cons: It does run hot.

Other Thoughts: By today's standard, 1 TB is way cheaper than the $169 I got this drive for, not to mention the newer drives are faster as well.

After owning this drive for two years, I gave it to my cousin since I got the newer 2TB version instead.

5 out of 5 eggsTop Performance and Reliability

Pros: I bought three of these and have had no trouble with any of them. Massive storage and reliable performance. Western Digital is a brand I trust. I go with "Black" for the performance. I built two PCs and upgraded a third with these drives and they have been rock solid.

Cons: None.

Other Thoughts: All three of these drives have performed exceptionally for the past three years with no issues whatsoever. I couldn't hope for anything better. I will continue to stick with Western Digital as long as they keep this up.

5 out of 5 eggsGood drives

Pros: High performance drives
Reliable
High capacity

Cons: Not good in NAS boxes or where you will have two of them in close proximity of each other.

Other Thoughts: They are good drives, but due to the high RPM's they tend to create a decent vibration. I don't fault the HD's, it's more a situation issue. i.e. don't put them close together in a NAS box or computer on top of each other.

4 out of 5 eggsBought in '09

Pros: Pretty solid drive, been in a computer since early 09. Bought two fo them for two different systems.

Cons: One has began to throw errors, built new rig

Other Thoughts: Honestly if I get 4 years out of a part the way I use it, and it dies gracefully (with warning) Then I have no major complaints. Got all data I needed off and as far as I know would work if I turned on old computer anyway.

5 out of 5 eggsBEST HARD DRIVE EVER

Pros: SUPERIOR QUALITY CRAFTSMANSHIP AND WARRANTY

Cons: NONE

Other Thoughts: I bought five of these when they were on sale under a hundred bucks five years ago and it was the best decision I ever made. The evidence is so obvious when you look at this products new egg ratings. I wish Western Digital would continue to manufacture all future products with the same devotion.

5 out of 5 eggsHard Drive

Pros: quiet, reliable, great amount of storage

Cons: no cons here

Other Thoughts: was skeptical, only to learn these drives last on AMD chipsets, RMA may be high on the fascist leaders chips.
