5 out of 5 eggsGreat drive for my iMac

Pros: Reliable, great drive.

Cons: Temperature sensor a bit wonky.

Other Thoughts: I bought this drive to replace my failing stock 2008 iMac drive. With the help of some how-to videos, I was able to install it pretty easily. My only snag was the placement of the temperature sensor on the drive, but that's minor.

It's been almost two years, and the drive is still running smoothly!

5 out of 5 eggsGood Drive So Far

Pros: * Works

Cons: * None

Other Thoughts: * I've built and owned probably a hundred drives plus in my life. I'm a fan of WD.
* I'm a firm believer that they warranty a drive for the amount of years they built the drive to last. 5yr warranty drives will last longer than 1yr warranty drives. Black and enterprise with WD.
* I backup everything, then I backup the backups, so it's supposed to last 5 years. We'll see. No problems, using this one in my DVR.

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent

Pros: Inexpensive, reliable, quiet, easy to install and use.
Dual core processor to aid in speedier read/writes with 32MB cache, decent size for the money.

Cons: Not sure I agree with the speed boost of the Dual core processing. In most tests, although fairly quick, this drive isn't the fastest there is out there. I cannot seem to get over 5.7 on the Windows system test scoring, making this drive a bottleneck oddly enough.

Other Thoughts: All in all, this is an excellent drive.
SSD drives are out there,(and even thumbdrives)are getting larger and cheaper by the day, so eventually, a mechanical drive like this will become obsolete.
Thats still a few years down the road however.
If you are looking for solid reliability, I can say, after almost 3 1/2 years of daily use, this one is definately a keeper and I highly recommend it.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Hard Drive!!

Pros: Very reliable
Affordable

Cons: None!

Other Thoughts: I purchased this hard drive back in May 2009, as my first 1TB hard drive. Has worked flawlessly ever since, and still going strong!!! However, hard drive has been in an Antec 900 case with fans blowing on it constantly...may be why it's lasted so long as it stays nice and cool.

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Still going strong

Cons: none

Other Thoughts: I'm a fairly heavy PC user. Not quite the 24/7 type, but close enough. I use these as my data storage drives and they see a lot of file movement as well as long hours of use.

I have one set up with SSD caching. In theory, this takes away some of the burden but I have no idea how much the cache is changing things. The other drive just stores backup copies of stuff. So, maybe they really are not all that strained. YMMV. Mine has been great thus far.

3 out of 5 eggsOuch

Pros: None on the dead drive

Cons: I bought two of these. One died after 2 months, dead as a doornail.

Other Thoughts: I want a refund for the dead unit.
