5 out of 5 eggsLasted five years!

Pros: Lasted five years before I started getting sector errors and had to put it to sleep...

Cons: Died after five years, but that's not really a con. I read and wrote the p155 out of it and it took it like a champ until the very end.

Other Thoughts: Rock solid for five years before it went kaput. Definitely worth the cash overall though!

2 out of 5 eggsQuick Delivery!

Pros: Was able to attach it to my computer with ease

Cons: Unfortunately the hard drive worked for two startups and then I started getting technical errors on the hard drive.

5 out of 5 eggsAlmost 5 years now

Pros: Bought this for my first build ever back in March 2011, and it has been amazing. Still works, although I have read some hard drives fail conveniently after the warranty expires. However, 5 years of not having it fail is a pretty amazing feat. Used it for games, pictures and movies. Quality stuff.

Cons: Perhaps it was just me, but my main Win7 profile really lags after roughly half of the storage is used up. I bought a separate 2TB hard drive for my games, and I'm going to format this one for bulk storage. It has proven it's longevity.

Other Thoughts: This is perfect for budget build gamers. SSDs, while improved, are just not practical for the average consumer. Save some money and buy a good HDD instead (or buy 2, one for storage, the other for OS and games), and you can use the money you saved on something else.

5 out of 5 eggs5 years later...

Pros: I bought this drive just over 5 years ago today. Absolutely bulletproof. I've since bought an SSD for my OS, but I'm still storing most of my games/large programs on this thing. Again, bulletproof.

Cons: Strange that I bought it for just under $80 5 years ago and it costs far more than that now, but that doesn't really affect me, I guess. I suppose it's still worth it if you want a drive that will last forever.

Other Thoughts: When it comes to HDDs, Western Digital is the way to go. I've had many over the years and have pretty much exclusively used them when building PCs for other people and I've never had a problem with one, ever.

5 out of 5 eggsSo far so good 2/23/12

Pros: I purchased two of the units to run Raid but ended up partitioning one for the Operating system and left the second for installations

Cons: 1 of the drive went bad but was replaced easily!

4 out of 5 eggsFinally Dead (almost 6 years)

Pros: *Lasted almost 6 years of what I would call hard use, I personally thought it would last longer than 6 but I cant complain too much I suppose

Cons: *Lasted almost 6 years
*By the time SMART threw up a warning on the drives life ending some of the files were already too corrupted to move over to another drive

5 out of 5 eggsStill going after 5 1/2 years!

Pros: Bullet proof.
Reliable
Been in the same build from July 2010.

Cons: The price has doubled in the last 5 years.

Other Thoughts: I am perfectly happy with the drive and the quality. I just hope when I purchase the new version of this one it runs just a strong into the next decade.

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: I have three of these hard drives, and after 5+ years, they are still running strong! I've never had a single issue with WD drives. WD is the way to go!

Cons: None. They all work!

Other Thoughts: These drives are good drives to have, and you will get plenty of years of usage out of them.

5 out of 5 eggsWD 1TB drives

Pros: Have had three of these drives purchased in my mac pro since 2010.
Been very reliable; and, like any hard drive 5 years and older, one begins to
think of replacing them now or waiting.. Two photography businesses and these drives have been worked hard. The system drive is a Macintosh 500 GB HD and it has done well also. Am running two operating systems off a partition drive ( both snow leopard ) and the latest of Mac ( El Capitan ). It should be noted before I installed these hard drives, I had purchased some IRAM memory to replace the new apple memory in the MAC pro desktop and I found it to run faster than the native apple memory. Newegg was referred to me by my son-in-law, an electrical design engineer; and, he is absolutely correct that NEWEGG is a reliable source for "electronic equipment ".

Cons: I have no cons with these drives for the last 5 years... The drives and memory purchased have performed well.

Other Thoughts: Thinking of getting new drives now or waiting until a crash. This is not a con.... but how long will these drives keep performing well as they have been.
Also thinking of solid state replacement... not sure now.

5 out of 5 eggsSolid Drives

Pros: I have 3 of these drives chugging away in my desktop tower--two of them from January 2009, one from January 2010--and they're still going strong without issue. They take everything I can throw at them from tens of thousands of songs/videos/photos and dozens of games to Photoshop and Maya projects that push several hundred MB per file.

Cons: A teensy bit of noise? I'm struggling to think of any cons but even with 3 of these in one tower my (8) case fans are generally louder than the drives themselves.

Other Thoughts: HDD purchases always make me nervous but I haven't had a DOA drive with WD yet!
