5 out of 5 eggsSolid Drives

Pros: I have 3 of these drives chugging away in my desktop tower--two of them from January 2009, one from January 2010--and they're still going strong without issue. They take everything I can throw at them from tens of thousands of songs/videos/photos and dozens of games to Photoshop and Maya projects that push several hundred MB per file.

Cons: A teensy bit of noise? I'm struggling to think of any cons but even with 3 of these in one tower my (8) case fans are generally louder than the drives themselves.

Other Thoughts: HDD purchases always make me nervous but I haven't had a DOA drive with WD yet!

5 out of 5 eggsFast response, Quick return

Pros: I needed to return this hard drive shortly after purchasing it, not because of a defect or any other issues, but because i changed my mind on what i needed. So I sent in a return request and newegg and Tech experts got in touch with the next day through email and made the process really quick and easy.

5 out of 5 eggs4307 Power on Counts, 24k+ Power on Hours, Still Good health status

Pros: Been my only Hard Drive for years now so I don't exactly know what happens when they get better than this.

Cons: Absolutely none

Other Thoughts: I know you can't buy this anymore but I just gotta add on to the praise here. I downloaded Crystaldiskinfo just now because I wanted to see what it said about my Hard drive and man, was i astonished. It's still trucking strong for 6+ years with no signs of stopping anytime soon *knock on wood*.

Thank you very much for this product, WD. If this thing ever decides to end it's marathon run, I will gladly see what more you have to offer.

5 out of 5 eggs10/10 would recommend

Pros: I have been using this drive for 5 years now inside of a Rosewill RX-358 (link below). I must have hit the lottery with this one after reading everyone else's review because with yearly cleanings with canned air I have had 0 problems. I use this as a performance application and media drive. I run engineering software, virtual machines, and this has been the dumping grounds for everything I download. I would estimate I am writing over 200GB - 4TBs a month on average depending primarily on my download and workload.

Cons: The fear instilled in me by other users 1 star reviews?

Other Thoughts: I would accept a sponsor if Western Digital would have me. I have owned Seagate, Samsung, Maxtor, HP, IBM, Toshiba, and other drives and no others have lasted nearly as long or reliably. Seagate was a close second until my recent experiences. I see tons of Seagate FreeAgent and GoFlex that people have brought to me to recover. One even surprisingly was branded as Samsung on the inside.

5 out of 5 eggsHas stood the test of time

Pros: I purchased this hard drive in November 2008, and six and a half years later it is still serving me well with zero issues. Although I've since upgraded to an SSD for my OS drive, this continues to serve me well as a data drive. WD, you have created a great product that has stood the test of time with this one.

Cons: Absolutely none.

Other Thoughts: I remember way back when, an IBM IDE 8GB hard drive cost around $900, and I had it replaced under warranty 5 times; then an IBM 20GB replaced 3 times. After the 3rd 20GB failure I bought a 37GB Maxtor which gave me zero issues. I later sold the maxtor after upgrading to a 120GB WD when SATA came around; I then added another 250GB WD years later for more space. Neither WD drive gave me troubles, I am certain I would still be using them if I had not lost them in a house fire. This 1TB WD has been a fitting replacement for both drives, and I would recommend a WD drive to anyone.

5 out of 5 eggsStill working

Pros: Still working, 5 years later

Cons: NONE

Other Thoughts: I bought this when they stopped making Enterprise drives.
(They started making them again in 2014).

I was concerned, I always pay more for a drive that should last a decade.

I've moved this to a backup server.. still running after FIVE YEARS.

5 out of 5 eggsGood drive

Pros: I've had this drive for about 6 years (since 2009), for the past 3 years it's been working 24/7 in my server as daily backup drive. I would say it's pretty good

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: I see that price went up about 50% from when I got it, I guess the drive is that good.
