Very satisfied with this drive.
- Pros: Perfect complement to the 37 GB Raptor I use up front for my Windows XP 32-bit system drive (C: D: E:).
Caviar Black holds my paging drive and data archives (F: G: H:).
- Cons: None.
- Other Thoughts: Used HD Tune to test Caviar Black against my Raptor.

Mini diesel engine.
- Pros: A very fast & inexpensive drive. 32mb cache is nice and its quiet... most of the time. Upgraded from a defective Barracuda, which was also 7200rpm, but the Caviar Black destroys it in load speed.
- Cons: Occasionally sounds like a little diesel engine when idling for a period of time, making faint, but very quick tat-tat-tat sounds which is pretty annoying when I'm trying to read.
Access is also clearly audible, but not as annoying as the occasional "tat" sounds. I don't know if this is defective or normal, but drive seems unaffected by it.
- Other Thoughts: Combined with an AMD 64 X2 4400+ o/c'd to 2.8ghz, WinXp loads in about 15 seconds from post.
