2 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Convenient. Nice size.

Cons: Cable becomes disconnected frequently. Slow. Spins down the platters (to save power) at the worst times.

1 out of 5 eggsHORRIBLE

Pros: it came with a usb cord

Cons: I had to remove while it was unplugged because my computer froze. I wasn't writing or reading any data, it was simply plugged in. Once I unplugged it, I lost ALL of my data.

I'm so upset right now. I had years of memories, important spreadsheets and documents along with bank account information. Now, all gone because I unplugged the USB improperly.

Other Thoughts: I hate how easy it is to lose so much valuable information. I'm never buying another external hard drive. It's a waste.

3 out of 5 eggsDied right away but WD support is good.

Pros: Uses one USB connector instead of two. WD support is easy to contact and very responsive.

Cons: Out of the box windows would lose USB connection to drive during large copies. Tried multiple cables and PCs same issue. Got worse and worse, I had to RMA it.

Other Thoughts: Easily filed a RMA request with WD online and they sent me another drive with advanced replacement.
1) Just needed my s/n no invoice, painless!
2) Now I can copy my data off my old drive before sending it in.
3) They send me a refurb Western Digital My Passport Essential SE 750GB USB 2.0. Refurb unit but 250 GB larger!

2 out of 5 eggsDrive good, cord bad.

Pros: The drive worked fine plug and play once I switched out the USB cord. If I had been an average user without 15 spare USB cords lying around I would have probably RMA'd this.

Cons: Came with a dead USB cord. Tried the USB cord on several devices and several different computers and USB ports. As soon as I put one of my spare USB cords on it it spooled up right away.
