5 out of 5 eggsAwesome Drive!

Pros: An awesome drive, very quiet and takes little power, runs cool!

Cons: None that I can think of...

Other Thoughts: I purchased this drive three months back for my Macbook Pro 17," and it installed pretty easily. A month after I purchased the computer I put in a 400gig Hitachi Drive, so knew this one would fit, them being the same thickness (to replace the 160gig OEM Hitachi drive).

I very much trust WD drives and bought this drive to split in half, and run Windows 7 in bootcamp (mainly for games), and am running Snow on the Mac side - this totally rocks in my opinion :-)
For back up, I do run TimeMachine once a week-this is just sensible, period.

5 out of 5 eggsNice and Big

Pros: Quick and easy to install on my Toshiba laptop. It is not slower than those w/ 5400RPM. Quiet as I can't even hear it is running.

Cons: N/A

Other Thoughts: Most Toshiba laptops can have 12.5mm hard drives.

4 out of 5 eggsWorks in Mac

Pros: May not fit in ALL Laptops, but fits fine into most recent unibody Macs (I have 17). Bit more noise than OEM, but fine overall.

Cons: Have had more WD 2.5 in HDs fail on me than any other brand, so will be backing this one up religiously.

Other Thoughts: Will probably upgrade to 1TB version when it comes out. For now this is a good size bump from OEM.

5 out of 5 eggsPeople, People, People

Pros: Fact #1: Newegg and WD clearly state: WD7500KEVT are 12.5 mm high and may not be compatible with all notebook systems. Consult system specifications for maximum allowable drive height before attempting to install.

Fact #2: "WD Scorpio Blue Drives are perfect for notebooks and other portable devices". No mention of blade servers (search for "WD Scorpio Blue Series Spec Sheet").

Fact #3: Most people don't know this hard drive has 3 disk platters, which makes it 12.5mm thick, 250GB per disk platter=750GB (you have to dig deep to find this information)

Fact #4: You don't need to have a high level of technical knowledge. It's a 2.5" hard drive that's 12.5mm thick (see Fact #1)

Fact #5: This hard drive hit the US market after laptop manufacturers have designed and released their laptops. Some laptop manufacturers are accommodating the 12.5mm size. (Assumption: laptop manufacturers may or may not adapt to accommodating thicker 2.5" hard drives...time will tell)

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: Newegg is an excellent consumer review forum.

3 out of 5 eggsNOT designed to be a laptop hard drive

Pros: DO NOT BUY THIS DRIVE . . unless you are of a very high level of technical knowledge and you have already verified that your laptop will accommodate a 12.5" drive

huge storage (if you own a blade server or are lucky enough that it will fit your laptop)

Cons: This drive is NOT designed to be a laptop hard drive. It is designed to go in blade servers that use 2.5" hard disks

The drive is 12.5mm, which is about 1/3rd too thick for most laptops. The standard in laptop hard drives (for about 12 years now) has been a 9.5mm drive. There is a very high chance that this hard drive will not fit as a replacement in your laptop.

Other Thoughts: Thankfully, Newegg has added a "notice" on the stats tab (since I ordered mine) but it's still not in a place where the warning is readily visible to warn most people that the drive won't fit their laptop.

I work for an IT Dept. After receiving the drive and realizing what had happened with the ordering process, I took the drive in to work and checked it against every laptop that both our internal and external help desks in inventory right now. 54 different models of laptops across 9 different OEM's. This drive did not fit a single one of them.

Newegg was very willing to remedy the situation when I contacted them about the issue. This is definitely the level of service that keeps me coming back :-)

Once I've been credited for this, I will be ordering the WD 640gb hard drive to replace it.

2 out of 5 eggsLowering my 5 star rating

Pros: Big on space. Fits into mbp 2.66 unibody 15" w/ removable battery.

Cons: LOUD. If you're in a quite environment like I am the head parking mechanism will drive you nuts. It is constant. I disabled the sms on my laptop thinking it was conflicting with the drives own but it did nothing.

I returned it.

Other Thoughts: I replaced it with a Fujitsu 500gb (same brand Apple uses) and it's whisper quiet. Not quite as big but until Fujitsu offers something else that's all there is folks.

5 out of 5 eggsPost update: Excess Vibration

Pros: How the drive is mounted can be critical as to whether vibration will be minimal or excessive. I remounted this drive to eliminate pressure points from two drive mounting screws against the plastic notebook housing. The result is that the drive is now essentially as unobtrusive as a standard drive.

Cons: none

Other Thoughts: a little experimentation sometimes helps.

1 out of 5 eggswon't fit to my noteook

Pros: 750G is the best so far in 2.5"

Cons: even it said 2.5", but it is not really a real 2.5", too fat size for my all 3 notebook using now, no one will fit. they should make it more clear about thickness will not fit to your notebook before put to market. I also bough a hdd enclosure try to use it as external hdd, but won't work, due to most the enclosure only read up to 500Gb. so do not suggest to buy this, unless you know your notebook space enough to fit it. it is thicker then standard 2.5". most of laptop won't fit ( at least my new HP and Acer notebook won't fit.) and end up you will need to return.

5 out of 5 eggsAwesome Drive

Pros: Huge hard drive, lots of space. For those of us who want it all, and MUST take it everywhere they go.

Cons: Won't fit in my laptop (dell) that has a slot it slides into because it is 12.5mm high, vs standard height of 9.5mm

Other Thoughts: The image of the display drive - they blurred the serial number, but not the bar code. Silly people! I Took the image over to and it was happy to tell me the serial number: WX60C5922414

5 out of 5 eggsGread drive

Pros: Quiet, Low power.

Cons: 3 year warranty instead of 5 year? no 7200 rpm Black model yet.

Other Thoughts: Got 2x of these for a Raid 1 (mirrored) backup disk to go with my 3ware 9050LE raid card. They fit great in my Startech 4x 2.5" to 5.25" bay drive holder.

I cant comment on their longevity as I've only had them them a week or so.
