5 out of 5 eggsAwesome drive

Pros: I've been using this drive almost 24/7 since 2004. It's just never stopped once and has always been there for me. To this day after several formats, reinstalls, and lord only knows what other torture I've put this machine through, (prime95, every game you can imagine, being a server, etc) it still runs great. Money WELL spent. I would recommend these drives to anyone who realizes that the shear speed of how fast a PC feels actually has a lot more to do with the hard drive than people thing. It doesn't matter if you have a 5Ghz i7 if you're running a 3200RPM IDE Seagate.

4 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Very fast. installed games very quickly. i'm also a student and use Maya 2011 for 3d art/Animation and it reads files very fast. had 2 setup in RAID. installed Diablo 2 in like 5 seconds lol (yes other comp specs helped).

Cons: it just died yesterday after a year of heavy use (3 drive formats, 4 Windows 7 installs and lots of 3d intense work).

Other Thoughts: meh... keeping the the good one for backing up files i guess. just ordered 2 OCZ SSD drives so we'll see how that plays out.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat drives

Pros: Iv been using the same 2 74GB drives from Newegg since May or June 2005. They still run well even though there life is coming to an end im still getting the last bit of use out of them.

Cons: Small drives, its hard not to fill them up quickly

Other Thoughts: I also got them in japan and have sent them back to the states for ayear and now im back in Japan so these things are durable.

5 out of 5 eggsSurvived 4yrs with me

Pros: I had this one for 4 yrs as my boot and game drive. I had reformatted it several times. One day OS just didn't boot, tried recovering some data, but it was just a waste of money. I think what finally killed it was that the OS partition got too "full." Overall, good piece.

Cons: Not sure if the extra cost is worth. Probably will go with a combo of 7,2k HD for storage and an SSD for OS next time.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat fast drive

Pros: Super fast drive, great warranty service. Keeps up with SSDs while using rock solid drive technology instead of new SSD with growing pains and controller issues.

Cons: none

Other Thoughts: I got this as a replacement for a raptor 74gb that was 4 years old and still covered under the 5yr warranty. The replacement was quick and trouble-free, WD is second to none in that department.

5 out of 5 eggsRaptor wins

Pros: I ordered this HD to put my OS on for my first build over 5 years ago and it is still kicking, and kicking well. I rarely turn my system off so it has been constantly used as well.

Cons: Most would say price here, but for how awesome it has performed, well worth the price.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat little drives

Pros: Fast, these things are great alone or raided. At the cost to speed ratio, I find these more to my liking than solid state drives.

Cons: They run hot. Heat sinks help but not the end of the problem.

Other Thoughts: I had two of these sent to me as replacements for my raptors and they work better and are quieter than the old ones.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat

Pros: Fast, reliable, fairly inexpensive.

Cons: only 74GB

Other Thoughts: This drive is great, I've been using it as my boot drive for my hackintosh for over a year now and I have never had any problems, not as fast as a solid state but if you want a high rpm mechanical hard drive I would recommend this.
