2 out of 5 eggsExtremely Cheap - Failed Fast

Pros: It was a cheap, refurbished, SATA drive

Cons: It failed in less than 30 days. By failed, I mean loud grinding and clicking noises, along with intermittently disappearing from the system.

Other Thoughts: My first, and last, foray into the land of refurbished hard-drives.

It worked respectably when it worked. Passed manufacturer diagnostics out-of-the-box. Something is critically wrong, and it faulted with less than two weeks in the field.

Paperweight? Nah. Remember, it has a 90-day warranty, and it's not from a mission critical machine!

1 out of 5 eggsGarbage.

Pros: Every single drive I ordered failed within weeks of being installed, save one, which died unexpectedly a few months later. Complete waste of money, don't buy these unless you need a paperweight.

Cons: Even for a cheap drive these are unacceptably awful.

Pros: It was cheap

Cons: It was cheap and didn't even work strait out of the bag. Made allot of heavy spinning and clicking noises.

Other Thoughts: I don't normally buy cheap Hard drives just because the fear of them not working.

5 out of 5 eggsDecent Budget Drive

Pros: Decent Storage for price, used in Vista setup. Ran WD Diag from USB, short, long, and erase with no problems at all. I was worried on buying refurb item but has turned out just fine. I'm couple days shy from 30 days of consistent use, but its been running 24/7 since I loaded Vista for the wife to use. She has installed her programs and such with no complaints. About to buy another to use as backup drive.

Cons: Not SATA 6 but come on for the price? Not going to break any benchmark scores but still solid.

Other Thoughts: Will eventually buy larger drive and use the two drives in NAS server most likely or JBOD setup

5 out of 5 eggsWorks Just Fine

Pros: I bought this because I was on a budget, but I didn't want to buy a hard drive with only 160 or 60 gbs. I saw this one and at first I wasn't sure how it would work because it was a refurbished one, but so far I had it in my pc for 2 weeks and have seen nothing wrong with it.

Cons: none

Other Thoughts: I am just using this hard drive for a little while until I get a 1tb hard drive, because 250 gb is not enough space for me. Other than that. I am happy with the purchase I made of this hard drive.

1 out of 5 eggsRefurbished WD HDD??

Pros: I don't see any as they are second hand.

Cons: They are second hand.

Other Thoughts: Refurbished Hard Drive ha, a Hard Drive is iether new or second hand! These are second hand and for the life of me I don't understand why you would buy these second hand Hard Drives when Brand New Hard Drives cost only a little more than these second hand ones. You get what you pay for!

4 out of 5 eggsSo far so good

Pros: It's been a week and the hard drive runs fine. I was worried one would fail like the other review said, so I bought two. They were only $25 at the time so it was a decent deal.

Cons: They're not silent. One buzzes a little on startup (which is worrying so I'm using the one that's quieter.)

Other Thoughts: A good deal. I needed a quick replacement for my new PC. The only bad thing is that I now have an extra hard drive just sitting around until I get an enclosure.

2 out of 5 eggsHit and miss

Pros: Cheap and effective- usually. Bought these as backup drives for a RAID 5 array, they're cheap and fast when they're functional.

Cons: Get a couple more than you need: on finally swapping the drives into my array one had an incessant high-pitched whine the moment it spun up. Ended up removing it and swapping it for another spare. Another one seems to have a lot of trouble seeking sectors, everything slowed down after installing it.

Other Thoughts: Don't buy this model unless you're going to be using it immediately, otherwise you won't be able to RMA it if one or more drives are bad.

1 out of 5 eggsDOA

Pros: Bought two. The one that works passed a long test and functions as it should.

Cons: The one that is bad makes clicking noise right out of antistatic bag. Not recognized by bios. Unable to run tests. Had to DOA right away.

Other Thoughts: I know these hard drives are refurbished but I buy Western Digital because of their quality control and reliability of their product. Given all the negative reviews, this many DOAs are unacceptable.
