5 out of 5 eggsreally quick!

Pros: *Really fast
*2 in raid 0 is the next best thing to an ssd without a doubt
*nice heatsinks - these sit right behind my front case fan and they stay pretty cool

Cons: None that i have ran into so far

Other Thoughts: Two of these drives were given to me by a rich friend of mine who had upgraded to ssd's. set them up for raid 0 and i am impressed. i honestly didnt expect the performance they gave me and i am pleased

5 out of 5 eggsNOOOOO

Pros: I've seen what they can do and wanted 2 of them in raid 0 as an upgrade. Nasty little buggers.

Cons: 1 per customer... came back after 48 hours to order another and they were sold out LOL! NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

Other Thoughts: I run an older Q6066 GO at 3.02 and to this day it still makes me smile.

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Quiet, fast, cool looking, quality. This is the first enterprise 10k I have put in a personal build. I will buy one again even though it costs quite a bit more than a normal HDD. It feels almost as quick as my gaming rig which uses uses a ssd.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: You will not regret having one of these.

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Fast, quality build, what you see is what you get.

Cons: It can't do my laundry for me...

Other Thoughts: Third Velociraptor I've used in a build, these drives rock-solid and well worth the money for your OS partition.

5 out of 5 eggsFast! Fast! Fast! RAID

Pros: Comparable to an SSD when setup in striped RAID0 array. I have 3 of these as my Windows 7 x64 system drive on an ASUS P7P55D Deluxe MB using the built-in Intel RAID controller. Running the latest Passmark 7.0 hard disk perfomance test my array scores a 2269.7 and the data transfer rate is over 300MB/Sec sustained for both sequential read and write tests. This is maxing out the interface speed. Given the weaknesses of SSD's and the current price on these little gems I would much rather go with these.

Cons: A little expensive, but compared to SSD's it is a steal. I get 900GB for the cost of one high end 250GB SSD.

Other Thoughts: When I bought the first two of these a couple years ago it was not cheap, but I got the third drive a couple days ago for half what I paid for the other's two years ago making them a good option.

5 out of 5 eggsThis was my biggest worry.

Pros: Came ALIVE! FAST and SILENT. I'm using this as storage and I got my OS on my SSD, but this is still completely fast, a game that takes 3 hours to install, I got installed in 45 minutes. the packaging was incredible.

Cons: heavy

Other Thoughts: I love it.

4 out of 5 eggsKIA, but WD Stood Behind It!

Pros: Fast drive. Nowhere near an SSD, but noticeably faster than a 7200 RPM drive. Not that noisy either. Drive looks really cool in its heatsink. Western Digital stood behind their product.

Cons: Completely died after just under two years! Minus one star for premature failure.

Other Thoughts: Yeah, Western Digital couldn't believe it either...they wouldn't even accept my online RMA request and made me call in.

I started getting BSOD's in Windows 7 x64 (something I hadn't ever gotten and I beta'd Windows 7). I installed the Windows 7 Debugging Utilities and started looking at my minidumps. Two minidumps pointed to bad Nvidia drivers (specifically "nvlddmkm.sys") and I had just installed a new Nvidia GTX480, so it made sense. Reloaded Windows 7, used different drivers for the Nvidia card and everything ran fine for a couple days...then the BSOD's started again...leading me to reboot and an error saying there was no OS on the HD. Long story short, put drive in a dock attached to my laptop, finally got CheckDisk to run and ended up with almost 6 text pages of bad sectors.

Called WD and luckily I got a guy who was very friendly and very helpful. Convinced him I knew what I was talking about and really tested the drive, got an RMA and my new Raptor will be delivered tomorro

4 out of 5 eggsJust got it

Pros: seems to be the faster drive around

Cons: none so far

Other Thoughts: The drive is marketed as wdbacn3000enc-nrsn but in reality its a repackaged WD3000HLFS, so the model number on the box and the drive will not match. I got to WD support to clear this point. So the warranty is OK. Also to whoever said its only 3 year warranty, that is not true. The drive comes with 5 year warranty, its even says so on the box, just an fyi. Will update with details after installation.

5 out of 5 eggsworks!

Pros: this product to replace a old velociraptor drive that was throwing me errors in POST that was part of a raid 0.reloaded image and everything checks out. i have been using wd raptors and velociraptors since they hit the market always been good to me. would like to try out a ssd but for my needs i would be spending like 1k, so i will wait tell they come down in price.

Cons: never had a problem with these 10k drives. WD replaced my old drive with a 32meg cache drive which was nice but could not raid with my 16meg cache raid 0 setup. i ended up selling the replacement drive off.
