5 out of 5 eggsSweet deal

Pros: -1TB
-Stable
-Cheap
-WD

Cons: -None so far

Other Thoughts: Great hard drive for the price... Wouldn't have done anything different. Everyone should have at least one TB hard drive if they can afford it.

3 out of 5 eggsmissing 7% of my space

Pros: well, I mean It stores, no bad sectors or anything.....

Cons: missing ~70Gb of R/W space. I know that windows doesn't hide that.

Other Thoughts: it should really be advertised as 900 Gb, not 1 Tb

4 out of 5 eggsBought two, both over 20,000 hours

Pros: -Great deal for an enterprise drive of this capacity.
-Have been functioning perfectly for 6 months.

Cons: -High hours (both were over 20,000)

Other Thoughts: I bought these drives for a RAID 1 array, so I wasn't overly concerned with the long term reliability of the drives, since they would be mirrored, but they have both held up for 6 months without an issue.

Don't buy this drive if you plan on storing sensitive data as they are heavily used.

4 out of 5 eggsYou get what you pay for, and that's not always bad.

Pros: Well, I can't say I'm disappointed with the health and reliability of these drives. I took them out of the box, plugged them in, and away they went with no issues. Like other reviewers have stated: The drives probably come from some server farm that was branded by Dell, and they are tested before being allowed to be sold.

0 SMART Errors on ANY of the conditions that matter, which obviously makes sense if they're reselling them. The only values that are high are Power On Hours, and the 2nd highest is Power Cycle Count. But the 2nd value is WAY lower, so you can definitely tell these drives were powered on 24/7 in some sort of server for about 3 years.

They worked great on my system for what they are! No complaints here, using them just for some basic movie storage on a home server.

Cons: I only have 1 con for these drives, and it's coming from the perspective of power savings.

These drives are obviously OEM branded by Dell, which could possibly mean that the firmware inside the drives are modified to Dell's standards.

My drives were definitely modified in the Power Savings category somehow because I just CANNOT get these drives to spin down after 10 minutes no matter WHAT I try. Every drive in my 8 bay enclosure powers down after 10 minutes, and guess which 2 drives stay on? These.

I did notice however, that they DO go to sleep, but probably about 40-60 minutes. I'm thinking more like 60. They completely ignore my power saving time and just do whatever they were programmed to do in their firmware, which is annoying. And I've tried, EVERYTHING, to make them sleep including going into advanced power management areas and setting internal-drive-standby times myself. Nothing.

Other Thoughts: Besides that one gripe for me, they're solid drives and I actually feel confident that I could trust these drives if I ever needed to store important information on them (ALWAYS back up your data somewhere else anyway).

If you're not too concerned about power saving with your own time limits, just get these drives. They're a great deal!

5 out of 5 eggshard drive...

Pros: High capacity
Runs smooth so far
I have more storage!
Runs bout as fast as most mechanical drives.
I have too much storage now, but I can live with that.

Cons: 36,000 hours!!! 4 years of run time! But I knew that when I ordered, just hoped I would get lucky and get one with low hours!!
This backup drive will probably last a long time even though it has a lot of hours... I will find out.

Other Thoughts: Some reviews say their drive arrived dead, Hope they managed the drive in windows first.
Create a new simple drive.
Format new simple drive.
Ready...
System will now recognize the hard drive.

5 out of 5 eggsNo problems here.

Pros: Cheap server grade HDD.

Cons: None so far.

Other Thoughts: As others have said, SMART diagnostics stated that the drive has had 20k or more operational hours logged on it, but this is probably just because the refurbishment process didn't reset the controller.

The drive I received had DELL branding on it.

1 out of 5 eggsLOUD Clattering

Pros: Drive works and it's Cheap if you catch it on sale

Cons: If you don't mind your computer sounding like a Popcorn maker it's a good buy. Drive is loud clattering all the time. I purchased these for a customer that need cheap drives fast and had to replace them because they are so loud. Would never buy again. Warranty is replacement ONLY !

Other Thoughts: I figured the bad reviews were just a case of only the unhappy people writing reviews. But now I'm one of those unhappy buyers

4 out of 5 eggsGood for the money.

Pros: This hdd is great for the price.Large capacity drive for less than $40.00.

Cons: The drive I received only has 58% power on life left and sounds like the hdd's from 10 years ago.

Other Thoughts: For the price I really have no problems with the drive. Its loud but pretty fast for a 2010 model.it scored a 5.9 in Windows 7 which is normal for a SATA 7200 rpm drive. Will buy another for a backup pretty soon.

5 out of 5 eggsSolid, cheap enterprise quality drive

Pros: $50 enterprise level 1TB WD drives that are already "broken in". Bought 3 and all are working perfectly. They were also packed great.

Cons: You want me to say used/ton of power on hours here, but I'm not. We knew exactly what we were buying here. 90 day warranty kinda sucks, but it was a risk I was willing to take. Not as fast as todays HDDs but still decent throughput.

Other Thoughts: Have 3 up and running in some office computers. If I see any funny business I'll try to update this review, but as of now its all good.
