My harddisk on Lenovo G570 crashed and I would like to replace it with this. Will it suit ?
One computer repair guy told me that WD black will not suit laptop and I will have to for WD Blue.

Hello, that is non-sense.

This is a laptop drive and perfect for a laptop.  WD-Blue are their "main-line" user drives, black's are the power-user drives.

is this hard drive SATA II?

I believe so. I am under the impression that the SATA version simple refers to the speed:
SATA I is 1.5Gb/s
SATA II is 3Gb/s
SATA III is 6Gb/s

Since this is 3Gb/s, I would say that it is SATA II.

Question 3

Will this drive fit a HP Laptop DV6 3019WM. If not what is a compatible 750-1,000GB drive that will fit?

To know if a drive will fit your machine, measure the size of the space that the drive fits in.  This drive is 9mm thick.  If the size of the space is larger than that, this drive will fit.  I believe this drive is a "slim" drive, so it should fit most laptops.

I noticed that this drive will work as a replacement drive for a u550.  Though if i don't have a boot disk other than what lenovo provides, One Key... how is it i can take advantage of the additional space when it will automatically recover partition the C: drive to the 250, while partitioning the rest to a another drive?  Before i purchase, just trying to do my homework... I'm not a total novice, but close...

What I suspect you are asking is how do I transfer my old boot hard drive setup to a new (boot) hard drive so one doesn't have to re-install all the software packages. This is what is call cloning a hard drive. There are two programs I have experience with: a) Acronis (you must pay for) b) Clonizilla (free ware). (Run Acronis from the DvD drive ... I'd avoid installing it on hard drive)

Regardless of which method you chose back up all your documents, pictures, bookmarks, and email to a third medium that you will not touch (use in cloning), also learn how to retore those files and folders. As the saying goes if you dont'thave three copies you don't have one.  DvD-R are good for ten years., put them in a zip lock bag and bury them somewhere.

If you are a novice at this and you using 500 GB drive that are close to being full, I would STRONGLY recommend you buy two use (“ junk”  drives  ( say 60 GB for Window 7) and practice the transfer on those with just the operating system, if you get clone the “junk” hard drive successfully, There should not be a problem with the 500GB to 750 GB cloning.  It would give me nightmares to lose 400 GB of data - it's not worth the $25.00 for two used 60 GB hard drive, probably can get by with 40 GB. You can always re-sell them.

I know it is a pain in the            to have to reinstall all software packages and settings - I gave up on the  thought of  even attempting that well over 10 years ago after several attempts.

I'd would suggest you also learn about imaging hard drive, it copies the hard drive so you can restore it, like microsoft backup.

I have replaced original hard drives in both ASUS and ACER laptops,  where the original drive was lower capacity and 5400 RPM.  In both instances the Western Digital Scorpio Black has not only fit but out performed the original drive. I have retro fitted three ASUS G75VW machines and had zero issues.  Why I picked the Scorpio Black Drive is because it is high capacity, has a proven track record and comes with a 5 year warranty, something the newer version does not have. As for the physical fit of the drive into a laptop, it should fit if the original was also a 2.5 inch drive.  I have seen comments that the standard 2.5 inch drive won't fit in some of the Mac machines. The SATA controller in the machines I have retrofit were able to utilize the 7200 RPM drives, so to answer the compatibility question, they seem to be. All of my laptops have 2 drive bays and I have installed 2 of the Western Digital Scorpio drives in each machine. That makes a total of 8 drives and none have had any failures or issues. Sure it is compatible with that Dell laptop.  I used it for my Dell R17 laptop with core i5-2430m.  It was originally shipped with an WD black 250GB drive.  With this 750GB WD black 7200 rpm drive, I feel no need to use an SSD and I can record and save more movies.

You will have to check Dell's support website to see. You need to verify what type of data bus your laptop supports. Ex: SATA I, II or III, or possibly PATA. Once you have that info, you can do a search based upon that info at newegg.com
