1 out of 5 eggsNot what you think it is

Pros: It's got 1tb, woopdy doo.

Cons: Not meant to be a dedicated drive to run your OS off from. I've been doing that for 2 years now and it's finally failing. Causing high dpc latency's on my computer making my headset desync causing 120db static in my ear hole. If your using it for just storage it's great, otherwise, go with something else.

Other Thoughts: Only reason I got this drive was because when I started out building my pc, I started with a HP Pavilion P6310Y which came with a WD Caviar Green. So when that one fried I figured I'd get another one since it proved right to me then, however now it's really bad, and I'm currently in the process of buying a WD 1tb black edition and getting my warranty for my Green.

5 out of 5 eggsGood replacement drive

Pros: Quiet, fast, reliable. This drive has been running for over a year. I do a stress test on this drive about every 3 months to make sure the drive is healthy. I also do a total scan of the drive to make sure there are no bad sectors.

Cons: I've had to repair this drive a few times. I have a bad sector regenerator software that recovers bad sectors. I've found anywhere from 72 bad sectors up to 318 bad sectors. All of these sectors have been repaired. I did find the cause of the problem. There is a 400 watt power supply in the computer and its not providing enough power to the Hard drive. I'll listen to the hard drive and after running for 20 minutes the hard drive shuts off, then the computer blue screens. the computer then hangs during post because it can't detect the hard drive. Faulty power supply that needs to be replaced.

I ran this hard drive in my other machine that has a 600w power supply and ran it a week with no issues.

**Note** If you have owned this drive, and the hard drive shows up during post, but hangs when trying to boot into Windows, or constantly freezes, its more than likely the hard drive has bad sectors and needs repaired. If the bad sectors will not repair, then a replacement will have to be done. I've had 3 different WD Green intelipower drives and have had all the same issues " on the same computer with the 400w power supply" One I sent back because I thought it was bad, just to find out I had a bad power supply. Now I only have a 500 and a 1 TB drive.

Great drives, just make sure you have a power supply that is providing enough power to the drive. This may not be the case for everyone, as I also have bought drives that failed in a period of time. All I would hear is a "click click click" and that was it.

**** The "Other Thoughts" isn't working on my new egg app. I'll type a post and when posted it doesn't show up so I'll put it here.***

Other Thoughts: I've got a WD 250gb and a 320gb hard drive that have been running for 7 years and still running strong. The 250gb has had XP, Vista, 7, 8, and now 8.1. That drive is proven reliability and stability. I've had my best luck with WD hard drives and will continue to buy them.

3 out of 5 eggsLasted about 11 months

Pros: Cheap and the usual quick shipping from Newegg. Had to return one of the pair I ordered initially -- DOA. No problems returning it, of course.

Cons: This was a pair of 1TB's installed in RAID and striped. Workstation was operating 24/7/365 (Linux Workstation running BOINC for "Asteroids at Home calculation application"). You know that sound when you hear it ... Screeeeeeech ... sort of like one of my former mother's-in-law's commentary to me. Anyway. I figure for what $80.00 a 1TB ought to last a bit more than a year ... but I am writing this to give you a heads up. Caveat Emptor and Molon Labe or whatever.

Other Thoughts: I buy everything from Newegg .. can't beat the prices or the service.

1 out of 5 eggsDOA

Pros: Good value for price, usually good experence with WD

Cons: DOA,

Other Thoughts: Was in a strange box, like it was a return sent back out.

Would not take a partition at first, then was super slow to format. Also lost it format after reboot.
