Pros: Got this to replace a drive that died after about 7 years. Installed ubuntu, and boots very fast. Very quiet. Overall a great drive for anything with IDE.

Other Thoughts: All components in system are the same except for the hd and the wait time prior to Win XP loading has increased noticeably (a POST hold up when detecting the hard drive).

Pros: Bought this in 2003 for my first computer. Seen it was still here to write a review about. This is still working 6 years later with no problems at all.

Other Thoughts: I will always buy from WD. Just bought 2 300Gig Velociraptor drives and they are BANGING ! ! ! I highly recommend these to anyone looking for reliability, performance and decent prices.

Pros: I just realized I bought this hard drive back in September of 2005 and I still have it in my desktop computer that I use daily. I have linux installed on this hard drive and it runs 24/7/365 (aside from the occasional power outage or reboot). I've never had any issues out of it and I doubt that I will for a long time coming.

Other Thoughts: Great drive. I picked this drive up to replace a dead hd in an older Dell system. Installation was as painless as could be. All the mounting holes in the drive lined up perfectly with the drive case. The jumpers were set to cable select, which is what my old drive had as been set to.

4 screws a power and data hookup and the drive was ready for the os installation. Works great with quick access to data. Bios recognized the drive immediately and set up the capacity properly.

Great price and service by Newegg. Do not hesitate if you need to replace a drive, or add a 2nd one.
