4 out of 5 eggsStill running, fully 9 years later... but noisy as hell

Pros: Still running after NINE YEARS, with a total runtime hours of about 3 years, if I did the math right. (Speedfan's S.M.A.R.T. utility leaves something to be desired, and this is on my Win7 desktop).
Seriously, still running. I've had a lot of hard drives go bad between then and now.

Cons: I'm going to replace this drive because it's slow by modern standards, and the seek on it is very, very loud.

Other Thoughts: Today, I was thinking about replacing this drive, and remembered for a moment the day I purchased it - and where I lived at the time. "That was almost 10 years ago, wasn't it? No, that can't be right." (A short g-mail search later) "9 years, 26 days? Dang."

3 out of 5 eggsLoud, but reliable

Pros: I built my system 4 years ago with these 2 of these hard drives operating in Raid 1, and have had no performance issues with them.

Cons: Noisy - I gave only 3 stars due to these drives being extremely loud - the clicking noise you hear is really loud. I use a WD Green in an external enclosure for backup, and it is silent compared to these drives.

4 out of 5 eggs

Pros: New mechanical issues. Fast.

Cons: Very loud. I thought I had a bad drive, but apparently everyone else feels the same way.

4 out of 5 eggsGreat Hard Drive

Pros: Owned for about 2 months now, and it has been working pretty much flawlessly.

Cons: Can be a bit noisy at times.

Other Thoughts: For the price, you get what is expected. It is definitely not one of the fastest drives out there.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Buy!

Pros: it has so much memory for a very low price, its fast i suppose, havnt had any trouble with it at all

Cons: i couldnt believe how hard it was to get it to fit into my mid tower ! i scratched this HD pretty bad but no big deal but thats the only con and it was more of my towers fault i suppose. still not enough of a con to lose an egg

Other Thoughts: great i would buy it again!

1 out of 5 eggsNot very good

Pros: Nice fast drive, stores data

Cons: Bought a new drive to put in my new computer build. Drive only lasted 2 months. Computer keep freezing up and keep reporting errors. You could hear the drive spinning up and down constantly. Fortunately I was able to get my data off. I send the drive back for replacement under warranty. Waiting on replacement. Wonder how long it will last? This is the first time over the years that I have had to replace a seagate drive, they have always had high reliablity but I think quality is suffering based on the number of reviews. If my replacement drive dies in a short period after being replaced then I will look at other drives next time I need to purchase one.

4 out of 5 eggsNoisy but effective

Pros: Big, it works and is pretty fast.

Cons: Like what others have said it is pretty loud. My computer is right next to me (shuttle) and the hard drive is on the top of the case. So i do hear the clicking sound quite a bit. Took some time to get used to. My computer fan is already somewhat loud so in the end it does drown out the sound.

Other Thoughts: Used as a main drive with a 160GB WD as a storage.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Speed, Great Price, Great Product.

Pros: Great Speed, and Great Price. Bought two of these, and set up a Raid 0.

Cons: None.

Other Thoughts: A step down from the 10,000 RPM drives, but I notice very little difference, if any at all. Great buy.

4 out of 5 eggsSo far so good

Pros: Worked in my new build just fine
PRICE on sale was wicked awesome w/ free shipping, couldn't pass it up.

Cons: Main con is that mine seems to be a little noisy when its accessing the HD it sounds like a miniature construction crew with a jack hammer. This is in no way a HD for a HTPC. I'm fine with it because it was such a good deal when I picked it up and it doesn't really bother me that much.

Other Thoughts: none
