5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: See other thoughts first. It has (mostly) worked for the five years I've owned it, being sequestered in an external enclosure.

Cons: It has broken twice.

Other Thoughts: I'm torn what to rate this, over the five years I've owned it, it has died twice, once the fault of the drive, the second, the fault of my idiot friend, but Seagate was very good about fixing it.

Overall however, it was a good investment. Data redundancy is invaluable.

4 out of 5 eggsWorked the first time

Pros: Fast drive ,No problems with install. Instructions on Seagate web site for install and troubleshooting if needed.

Cons: Did not come with partition software. Had to use Windows Disk Managment to create 2nd partition. Not really a con/problem.

Other Thoughts: 5 year warrenty. say no more

2 out of 5 eggsDied after 6 months of use

Pros: When it worked, it worked great. Very frustrated!!

Cons: After about 6 months of normal use (as a seperate storage drive it died) DO NOT BUY. BUYER BEWARE! It was not even my main drive!!!!

1 out of 5 eggsFailed, and Seagate won't honor warranty

Pros: Quick drive, inexpensive

Cons: Failed in about 20 months -- turns out not to have warranty.

Other Thoughts: Bought this in late 2006, and it supposedly has a three-year warranty. But Seagate refused to honor it, claiming (based on S/N) that it expired in October 2006.

Considering that the 7200.10 drives were first *made* in October 2006, and the date code on the drive is in October 2006, this makes no sense. And I'm tired of arguing with Seagate support.

You're much better off with a Western Digital drive -- at least until Seagate starts honoring its warranties.

5 out of 5 eggs5yr Warranty

Pros: I've had an unusually high number of drives fail in under 2 years since they grew beyond 200GB, so I figure Seagate wants this thing to last 5 years as bad as I do. I bought this as preventive maintenance on a 4 year old drive in my dad's machine and he has been going on about how the whole machine seems faster. Oddly enough, it replaced an ata 133 drive.

Cons: Newegg didn't have a terminal in my local computer store.

1 out of 5 eggsDied within 3 months

Pros: Was fast while it worked.

Cons: Died within 3 months...and I mean DEAD. No chance to recover data.

Other Thoughts: I'm going to have to stick with Western Digital drives from here on out...I should not have strayed.....

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Good hard drive, for some reason computer only picked up 131GB at first boot, but then while installing XP it picked up the remaining space.

Cons: Was planning on getting the SATA Seagate 250GB HDD but accidentally ordered this one. Still a good HDD, just my mistake, the SATA HDD is same price though.

Other Thoughts: This is my first build using the Biostar A770 A2+, XFX GeForce 8800 GS XXX, Athlon 64 X2 6000+ Winsor 3.0 GHz, 2GB GSkill DDR2 800 RAM, Cooler Master 550 PS, and Seagate Barracuda 250 GB HDD. Evrything went together very smoothly. Works perfect, extremely fast!
