5 out of 5 eggsExcellent HDDs

Pros: Fast and quiet.

Cons: None.

Other Thoughts: I have two of these in the same case. They do get hot without any immediate cooling even with the case open and front panel removed. However, most cases allow for a front fan in the vicinity of the internal 3.5 inch bays. Mine allows the 80mm front fan to blow directly over these drives and that keeps them quite cool.

5 out of 5 eggsThis guy cracks me up

Pros: The guy that claimed these aren't used in enterprise devices cracks me up. This specific model is used in high-end RAIDs, usually for broadcast situations (read: you're not allowed to drop frames). Buy SAS if you want; the rest of the world uses SATA for good reason.

Cons: Costs more, but that's due to the enterprise qualification (see above).

Other Thoughts: Don't be left out in the cold! Always buy a cold spare!

4 out of 5 eggs750 GB Barracuda

Pros: Large capacity, good performance, quiet.

Cons: I bought 2; 1 worked great, the other was DOA. Had they both worked, rating would be excellent.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Drives!

Pros: Very fast, not as loud as the drives they replaced.

Cons: Would be nice to have the legacy connectors as well like my
old WD drives.

Other Thoughts: I have never been a big fan of Seagate drives and have been a long time customer of Western Digital. After having two failures of my WD 500GB RE2 drives, I decided to repalce
them with these after reading the reviews.

Definately a great decision. From now on I will be using
these drives for all of the systems that I assemble.

4 out of 5 eggsStandard SATA II Hard Drive

Pros: Works well for a SATA II drive, a little pricey for 750GB

Cons: I don't know if it's Vista, but the drive spins down at various times, but then spins back up almost immediately. I've turned of indexing and auto defrag and it still happens. I have four other SATA drives in my system and they don't do this. I may return the drive.

Other Thoughts: Seagates are the top drives in the industry and they're pretty much all that I'll buy unless some incredible deal will make me by another.

5 out of 5 eggsSatisfied

Pros: Worked right out of the box. No problems on install. Much faster than my old 120gb seagate barracuda, even though it is the same 7200rpm speed. Broke it into 3 partitions, #1 for OS, #2 for games #3 for media storage. Flawless to date.

Cons: It's not 10,000rpm heh.

Other Thoughts: Its 5x bigger than a comparably priced 10,000rpm.

5 out of 5 eggsFine choice for ReadyNAS NV+

Pros: Reliable, fairly priced, reasonably quiet. Works well in leading NAS devices.

Cons: None that I'm aware of

Other Thoughts: I've had 3 running happily in my Infrant ReadyNAS NV+ since summer 2007, in an "XRAID" array (similar to RAID 5). I held off on adding a 4th drive because the NAS firmware imposed a 2TB upper limit on volume size and I would have left some capacity "on the table." (Not much, though--actual formatted capacity is below 700GB, so with 4 x 750GB drives, and given the "overhead" of the RAID array, only 40GB gets left behind). New firnmware upgrade (RAIDiator 4.0) permits the 2TB ceiling to be lifted (by running a special patch). Good job, Infrant/Netgear!

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent Drive

Pros: I built a computer a year ago and included one of these drives. I just added a second. They are reliable and fast. Great value.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: I had a Seagate disk that I used to recognize and format the drive. However the OEM version doesn't come with anything but the disk...no screws, cables, setup disk. Not a problem just a heads up.
