The Seagate Momentus® ST9160821AS hard drive incorporates perpendicular recording technology for maximum capacity, reliability and performance in demanding operating environments. The perpendicular recording allows Seagate to fit 160GB into a 2.5" standard notebook drive.

The SATA-150 interface, 8MB cache and 5400RPM combine to get an 11.0ms random read seek time. It does this while only drawing 2.0 watts to extend battery life.

This drive is ideal for notebooks, external storage devices, Tablet PCs, printers and copiers, and non-mission critical blade servers.

Perfect for Macbooks

Pros: Replaced the OEM Seagate 5400.2 with this one. Cloning was easy and the drive works perfect. Not any louder than the original. Battery life seemed unaffected. No heat issues. Massive Storage for a Macbook :)

Cons: NONE, Great OEM replacment

Other Thoughts: Seems slightly faster than the OEM drive (same speed). I was really worried about that. People had said get the 7200rpm, however, after reading the Test reviews on tomshardware.com I realized the 7200rpm is not much, if any, faster (look for yourself). In most cases a 5400rpm drive was just as fast, if not faster, than some of the 7200rpm drives. Besides most of the high capacity 7200rpm drive are twice what you'll pay for this one, with minimal gain in speed.

Pros: This harddrive is just as quiet as the 60GB harddrive that came with my 13" Macbook and I haven't noticed any hit on my battery life either!

Cons: None that I can think of.

Other Thoughts: If you are looking for a hard drive upgrade for your Macbook, this is the one. I read that some other reviews stated this drive was thicker than the 60GB, but this was not the case.

good long lasting hdd

Pros: good steady hdd. have had it for about two years. did not purchase it here it came with my dell vostro 1500 laptop. no problems and i use it everyday

Cons: none really cant stream large mkv but what 5400 rpm drive can without a quad core i dont know

Other Thoughts: good deal for the price. 160 is enough space for laptop
