5 out of 5 eggsReliable

Pros: Reliable. Uses very little voltage so it's powered by a standard USB port. Has never failed during reads or writes.

I purchased 3 or 4 of these and they're all functioning to this day. It's been over 3 years now!!!

I use one of these units as a NAS drive attached to my Asus router. There's roughly 200 gigs of movies and they stream flawlessly to other wired devices.

Cons: They're no longer offered. :( It would be nice if they were actually SSDs and had faster read/write times.....but the shear reliability cancels out having to wait 4 seconds longer.

Other Thoughts: I'm sold on Seagate. Perhaps their quality assurance department is strict.

5 out of 5 eggsAs good as the day I got it

Pros: Had it for about 3 months now. Rides in my car over some very bumpy roads and provides music to my stereo flawlessly. Spins up/down many times per day. Has been bumped several times and still works great

Cons: none

Other Thoughts: Durable, portable, slim, low power requirements...couldn't ask for more

5 out of 5 eggsEasy peasy

Pros: Dead easy setup, attractive design, smaller and lighter than I expected

Cons: Cheaper feeling than I expected (I thought the top would actually be metal instead of silver plastic)

Other Thoughts: I bought this for use with Time Machine for my Mac and it could not have been easier to use. There is absolutely no reason to buy the (more expensive) Mac version of this drive. As soon as I plugged it in, a Time Machine window automatically popped up asking if I wanted to use the drive for my backups, I clicked yes, it reformatted it and started its backup. I didn't even have to open the Disc Utility myself. Plays very nice with Mac.

5 out of 5 eggsFantastic

Pros: This drive is powered by only 1 USB cable. It's thin, lightweight, and feels durable enough.

Cons: none yet

Other Thoughts: Bought this for my car stereo which can only supply 500mA through USB. Drive spins up fine and works great so far. Will post back in a few months to let you know if it can stand up to bumpy roads and occasional drops

4 out of 5 eggsSeagate FreeAgent Go

Pros: It's really lite and has a lot of space. I've had it for almost two years now and it still works the same as the day I opened the package, even with a few dents in the case from falling out of my bag.

Cons: I have to cover the light at night. Also If I'm transfering larger files (anywhere up to 10 or 15 gigs) it can take about twenty minutes or so. The cord that comes with it is only about six inches long so it can be too short sometimes.

Other Thoughts: It's done it's job and I've gotten my money's worth. I've had it for a long time, I use it every day and I don't expect to need another one for a long time. Thanks Seagate!

4 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Drive is small - quiet - and works great

Cons: Does NOT have non slip bottom - in fact, no feet or any thing
other than the case.
I put my own silicone bumpers as feet.
Like everyone else says cord is short, stiff and cheap.
The lights are absolutly worthless (they dim a little and give you a headache starring at them) and drive does not stop spinning unless you use the software (I dont)

Other Thoughts: If I used this every day instead of weekly, I flat out would not want it because of cons, but the drive itself for long term back up is fine.

5 out of 5 eggsWorks Great!

Pros: I've always had strange issues with USB powered drives on my laptop. Thing is, I have a chillpad and a wireless mouse receiver all on the same USB rail. Apparently these peripherals wouldn't allow enough voltage to power an external USB drive. After doing some research, I decided to try these out and have found much JOY. I can have everything plugged in and STILL power this puppy. Nice engineering on Seagate's part.
Transfers are blazingly fast.
I will trust all of my confidential files, backed up ghost images, pictures, mp3s, etc will be safely stored on here without fail.

Cons: Cable is a little short but doesn't everyone have a few of these cables in the 6' flavor laying around their house??

Other Thoughts: Gig for gig it's way cheaper than a 32gb USB stick with 8x the space. And it's probably just as reliable.

4 out of 5 eggsExcellent drive for the money, poor RMA service

Pros: I like the slim, portable chassis of the hard drive. I have the 250 gig version. It has a quick transfer rate and good copy/ paste speed. It is very light and I like the form factor.

Cons: There are no cons on the drive itself.

I want to comment on the RMA service itself; the RMA service stinks. You have to pay $15 dollars for them to fix it (if even if you are under warranty) and you need to pay from you to the RMA place which is in California.

Other Thoughts: I would recommend this to other people as it is a very good drive.
