Is the hard drive 100% new?

The unit I purchased back in February was brand new. It has been installed in a laptop and has been working great! I hope this helps.

What is meant by Bare Drive in the description? The picture seems to be a drive in its caddy that is inserted into the Laptop HDD carriage. Some other vendors use Bare Drive to mean that the drive excludes the caddy. Please explain.

a bare drive means there is nothing loaded on it as some drives come with an operating system a bare drive is nothing installed

Will this drive work in my HP G71 laptop?

This should work ok. It is a sata drive. Pls note that it is out of stock. I ordered this drive for my laptop in sept 2014 and it only took 2 weeks for newegg to find it.

Will this work with a MacBook Pro 2009?

I am not sure to be honest. Sorry i can't help. I use this as an external harddrive
