2 out of 5 eggsIDE HARD DRIVE

Pros: WORKED OK WHEN FIRST RECEIVED. WAS ABLE TO DO BACKUPS ON IT.

Cons: UNIT TURNS ON BUT WON'T RECORD DATA.

Other Thoughts: NOT SURE IF REFURB WAS THE BEST DECISION, ALTHOUGH I HAVE PURCHASED OTHER REFURB ITEMS AND DIDN'T ENCOUNTER ANY PROBLEMS.

5 out of 5 eggsCheap but OK

Pros: Price and supported under legacy IDE status.

Cons: ATA 100 but hey for what I paid its really not a CON its just ata100 vs ata 133

Other Thoughts: This is a drive meant to keep you going until you need to ditch the computer. Old legacy technology

1 out of 5 eggsAvoid at all cost

Pros: nothing at all, might might a better paper weight than a hard drive.

Cons: Drive worked for a week and crapped out.

Other Thoughts: My only thought is why Seagate is putting out extremely poor drives and why do i need to pay for beta testing there hardware at my expense. Ah my second thought, make sure I, work, and everyone else i know who i can influence don't purchase any seagate drives.

1 out of 5 eggsBAD DRIVE ON ARRIVAL

Pros: Price of HDD

Cons: Dead on arrival. Sending it back to Newegg for a replacement. Hope the next one will work.

Other Thoughts: Not Newegg's fault. I knew what I was getting myself into. Maybe I'll increase the ratings if the 2nd drive work.

5 out of 5 eggsGood buy.

Pros: Clean to start. Cloned old drive without a hiccup. The old Dell runs just like it used to now!

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: Bought to upgrade an old Dell that ran out of room and I'm very satisfied with this purchase.

1 out of 5 eggsDOA

Pros: cheap? not worth it though...

Cons: Chirp of death after 2-3 hours of usage in a linux box. Ran badblocks test first, then moved files off of my failing drive over to this one. Upon reboot, I started getting the chirp of death.

5 out of 5 eggsWorks

Pros: Does what it's supposed to for my kid's PC.

Cons: None.

Other Thoughts: Seagate solid reputation is still intact with me, even on a recertified drive like this.

4 out of 5 eggsFree little HD, not bad!

Pros: Got this one free as a Newegg promo... I was happy to see one of these really old ATA drives. Brought me back memories of my old PC 486.... :)

Cons: I have not installed this, and I am giving to a friend, so if any issues, I will update later.

Other Thoughts: A friend who has an ancient computer (I kid you not, this guy has a diskette drive on his PC, it is THAT old), so I am glad I found this drive.

If you have an old PC, this drive may be one of the few old ones that still works with your comp, so gram it while you can! :)

1 out of 5 eggsFirst One Dead

Pros: Cheap.

Cons: Dead.

Other Thoughts: Disappointed that it is not eligible for a refund even though it was dead. I don't need it anymore because I had to buy one locally for an emergency issue... but now I have to get another one.

4 out of 5 eggsWorthwhile

Pros: Buying the re-certified drive was the only worthwhile way to keep this old socket 487 based system alive.

The Ultra ATA 100 out performs the failing Barracuda IV Ultra ATA 133.

Cons: The other day a Western Digital that was a bit faster was on sale cheaper and I missed ordering it by an hour.
