4 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Drive is nice and small, medium capacity(perfect for me) and runs USB 3.0 (apparently). Has a couple useful programs installed on it from the factory, but Windows will recognize and install drivers like any other PnP device, so you're free to delete them.

Very well built as far as I can tell. Solid feel to it.

Cons: I needed the drive so I bought it. Not so much a con, per se, but my computer as it turns out has no 3.0 port on it, so x-fer speeds are about 27mb/s. I bought the drive to store 270gb of data on it and it took 2.5 hrs to x-fer. Don't expect crazy speeds if you don't have USB 3.0.

One thing that someone other than me might consider a con is the cable length, although something that's meant to be "portable" really shouldn't be expected to come with a huge cable. It's no bother for me and my setup. It's roughly 15" long.

5 out of 5 eggsGood to go!

Pros: USB 3.0, small form, reliable, quiet. Has decent backup software if you decide to use it.

I just ordered a second one of these from the 'Egg as a secondary backup system, my original is going on 2.5 years of trouble-free service.

Cons: None so far.

Other Thoughts: I paid well over $100 for my original, thankfully this recent one was $60 on sale.

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Plug and play on Windows, works on Mac with included (I want to say Paragon? - can't remember) software, slim and lightweight, USB 3.0/2.0 capable, runs quiet and doesn't get hot.

Cons: Only con I can think of is the cable, it's a little short and I'm not sure how common the type of plug for the port going into the hard drive is or if it's a special order kind of thing when it comes time to replace it.

Other Thoughts: Unfortunately I'm stuck on a Mac at work, and my rig at home is a Windows PC, so I needed storage that worked on both systems for when I work from home. I also deal with a lot of large files (graphic designer) so I preferred to avoid the file transfer size limit with FAT32. This was exactly what I was looking for and can't beat the price point.

2 out of 5 eggsBad Connectors

Pros: Nice looking, versatile, fast (when it works), small.

Cons: Mine came with a bad USB 3.0 cable. I contacted customer support (took me a while since they are only open weekdays) and they sent me a replacement so that was ok. My biggest complaint is that the drive will be connected for a while and then disconnect. Keep in mind this is with the brand new connector and cable they sent me. I have had the drive for three months and still have not been able to successfully create a system image on this device, it always disconnects for a second and stops the backup. VERY frustrating! I bought this drive for backups and it's not working. Also it's faster than USB 2.0 but if you look online at hard drive benchmarks you will see that this is not very fast for a USB 3.0 drive.

Other Thoughts: If it was not for the connection issues I would say go for it. A lot of people have had this same problem but not everyone. Just be aware that you are taking a risk.

HP Pavilion dv6t Core i7 2630QM, AMD Radeon HD 6770M, 8GB DDR3 1333, Blu-ray burner, 1080p HD display.

4 out of 5 eggsFast!

Pros: A little larger than my Droid Charge (R) and writes 28-32MB/s on USB 3.0 from SATA2 7200 rpm Internal Notebook drive.
Stays cool, very quiet, requires no external power.

Cons: Built in Software is trial and Windows 7 users would be better off with Microsoft Windows Backup.
Glossy black enclosure shows every scratch, every fingerprint and the USB interface on the drive is proprietary, if I lose or damage a cable I'd probably just better buy a new drive due to price of cable.

Other Thoughts: USB 3.0 with a real USB connector and a Partition Magic or Disk Magic software would have been better choices for this product.
