Would this product work for a Macbook Pro/Optical Drive swap?

It would be hit or miss.   Some people have had success with Sata III & SSD style drives in the optical but some haven't.  Macbook optical bay connectors must have bad quality control.   I personally have a Macbook 2012 model and couldn't get an ssd or sata III to be stable enough to use in the optical.  It kept ejecting randomly.  Had to get a sata II and it works fine now.

I have this hard drive in my hp dv7 and it boots slow.  performance tests also show it to be slow.  Is there a drivder that I should be using that did not get installed with the machine? Runnin widows 7.

Norman, I can't answer your question about Windows drivers since I'm running Linux, currently Ubuntu 14.04 (see my post above).  I can only report that I saw a noticeable improvement in boot and shutdown times using this drive.  Other reports mention drives running hot in a laptop.  My drive is installed in a Toshiba laptop and runs at 53C (degrees) when idle.  I saw a slight increase to 54C when running the following disk performance tests.  Don't know if my results from Linux will be helpful to you, but here they are anyway.

All-in-all, I'm very satisfied with how this disk is performing.  Perhaps you have a faulty drive.

is this drive comes with sealed unopened box?

I got my Seagate drive to replace the drive I felt was too small, and after having used it for a few weeks and my one laptop, I bought a second Seagate XT for my other laptop. Both of work great, and I do feel that there faster than a conventional disk hard drive. Both of mine are 750 gig which was the largest they made in the hybrid Drive at the time. And I understand that the newer ones are even faster than mine, and more memory capacity. I've mentioned this drive to several of my friends to if they wanted to swap out drives.

Yep!  I've been running one in mine since October 2012 and I only have 2.53GHz.   It might be a bit faster in a Mac with SATA III (6GB/s).  The boot up speed is great!

Does anyone know if the drive still engages its SSD if put into RAID0?

As far as I know, the SSD portion is fully integrated with the mechanical portion and is presented as a single drive to other hardware and software, and should therefore work fine in RAID configurations.
