Pros: Had this drive now for about 6mths. Still Going Strong

Cons: None so far.

Other Thoughts: did a review about 5ths ago on this drive, now i have had it for about 6 to 7mths, just installed windows 8 on it, and it is doing very well, Drive is nice and quite, Windows 8 on my laptop boots up fast. I have had laptop hd fail here and there on me, this one is doing great, have done alot of file transfers on it, no problem, if your looking for a good drive, so far i highly recommend this drive.

1 out of 5 eggsStarts Out Good, Dies Fast

Pros: 7200 rpm. Decent performance. 7mm.

Cons: Reallocation sector errors start to slow down the drive. In about a month or so, the drive becomes useless.

Other Thoughts: I am an IT consultant and recommended purchase of three Lenovo ThinkPads which contained this Seagate hard drive. Two have died already and the third may die at any time.

3 out of 5 eggsFollow up review

Pros: This is a follow up review to my Eggxpert review I posted previously. Advised a customer of mine to order one of these drives based on the positive experience I had (and he needed a thin drive and wanted value over performance) See Other Thoughts

Cons: Slower access time than expected. Not a performance drive for moving a lot of files around.

Other Thoughts: Tested using a Samsung NP-SF310-S01US, i5 CPU, 4GB RAM, fresh install of 7 64bit.

I ran HDTune 2.55 several times, the numbers below are the average between the runs
Transfer Rate : 86.7MB/s
Access Time : 42.65ms (One run ran close to 70ms)

The transfer rate is similar to the older system I used for the first review, however I could not get the access time any lower than 20.6ms.

5 out of 5 eggsSeagate ST320LT007 EggXpert Review

Pros: Small dimensions, 16MB cache, runs cool, 7200 RPM - speed and performance over 5400 RPM drives, computer more responsive, runs cool

Cons: Small storage size, arguably - price per GB

Other Thoughts: Installing this drive in place of the 5400 RPM unit of the same storage size gave my Toshiba Satellite a new breath of life. Though it’s small, versus other 7200 RPM drives, it is quiet and gives that “faster feel”. The computer offers up noticeably zippy responsiveness over 5400 RPM and a two other 7200 RPM “credit card” size drives I have recently used. It runs cooler than the aforementioned competitors as well.

5 out of 5 eggsMomentus thin 320GB

Pros: -measures under 7mm just like the specs state.
-great compatibility (this will also fit inside computers that use the standard 9.5mm sized notebook hdd as long as the host uses a hdd cage.
-7200rpm.
-W7 WEI rating of 5.9 in a modern sata rev. II machine.
-atto benchmark performance was impressive at just under 120MB read/writes.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: Using the as ssd benchmark I tested read/write latencies and got the following results;
Read=18ms
Write=13ms

4 out of 5 eggsQUIET, Egg-cellent little HDD

Pros: Super quiet! I had to put it inside an external enclosure to hear it at all. Buried within a tower case it's indistinguishable from the various cooling fans and 3.5"" HDDs. Even in the external case, all you can hear is a faint tick-ticking.
Reasonably priced, certainly within the average range for this type of HDD.
Thin! This drive is only 7mm high, vs. the ""average"" 2.5"" HDDs which run ~9.5mm. This may not sound like much difference, but it is ~26% thinner (a little more than the thickness of a nickel,) and in a tight enclosure, such as a netbook or mini-HTPC, this might be just the ticket.
Reasonably fast, I was seeing average transfer rates (Reads) in the 98-103MB/s range.
Initialized and formatted immediately under Win Vista x64 using eSATA, no issues.
Well packaged in a sturdy cardboard container with molded plastic end-supports and the ubiquitous sealed ESD bag, only a dedicated cargo mishandler is likely to damage this in transit.

Cons: As noted by other reviewers, the access times (~17ms) are rather high, but the drive does not really feel sluggish in this respect.
Not a bargain price, but certainly not over-priced, either.
This is an OEM unit, no documentation or software whatsover are included.
No 3.5"" adapter mounting bracket (for use in a desktop PC) was included, but this is not very common with 2.5"" drives.
No SATA cable included, but again, since these drives are typically mouted directly to a SATA/power socket internally, an included cable is not that common.
Not a hardware-encrypted drive.

Other Thoughts: I typically do not purchase Seagate HDD products as I have another preferred brand, but following testing, I would feel very comfortable installing this unit for a customer in lieu of what I normally utilize.
There's not a lot to separate this drive from the pack, other than how doggone QUIET this one turned out to be. Most 2.5"" HDDs are not a whole lot louder than this, but you can discern the difference, and the thinness should allow you to mount this unit in any device designed to accept one.
The Momentus Thin line does include some units with onboard encryption hard-wired in (at a higher price point, naturally,) but this is an unencrypted unit.

5 out of 5 eggsThin hard drive is very thin indeed

Pros: Very thin! Fast and quiet. First month of use passed with no issues.

Cons: none

Other Thoughts: It’s hard to truly test a hard drive in the normal day to day conditions that I experience. Without a full test suite, I wasn’t in the position to test the 2 most important qualities of a hard drive: durability and speed. Instead, I installed the drive in a computer and ran the computer like normal. The drive performs as expected. Physically, it’s very quiet and cool. (typically, you can’t tell it’s running). The most unique aspect of this drive is how incredibly thin it is! Considering that it has 320GB on a what I assume is a single platter, it’s insanely thin. I’ve never seen an SSD this thin, let alone a spinning platter drive. It fits in a bay designed for a standard notebook drive, with room to spare. (when I first installed it, I wasn’t sure it would fit because it was easily half the thickness of the drive I replaced, but due to the SATA standard, it fit perfectly). This would make a perfect replacement drive for an ultrabook that might have limited space for a traditional 2.5” drive. I’d certainly recommend this drive if you needed to upgrade a specialty ultrabook notebook, say one that shipped with a small SSD and you wanted 320GB of storage.

5 out of 5 eggsGood Laptop/Netbook Drive

Pros: Good read/write performance. Faster than your typical 5400RPM drives that you will find in most laptops. 320GB hard drive capacity is much larger than most typical laptop hard drives. 2.5"" slim size that will fit in almost all laptops. Fairly quiet. 16MB cache (as opposed to standard 8MB cache). 3 year warranty (better than the 1-2 year warranty found on some other laptop hard drives).

Cons: Can't compete with SSD performance (SSD's will however be much more expensive). As 7200RPM drives spin faster they burn more battery life than an otherwise equally matched 5400RPM drive.

Other Thoughts: If you are looking to upgrade an old, broken, or smaller capacity laptop hard drive, definitely consider this drive. It wont be as fast as an SSD but you will get much more hard drive capacity. Perfect for those who want above average performance, lots of capacity, and don't want to spend SSD prices. I would be comfortable choosing this drive again.
