4 out of 5 eggsGood but not great

Pros: Good product for the money.
Lower power consumption then a higher speed drive.
data buffer helps with larger file transfers
Great capacity for the price

Cons: Semi slow

Other Thoughts: If you are looking for fast boot up times and low power consumption consider a CF to IDE adapter and use flash memory. Limited storage capacity and higher price for the bigger CF cards but AMAZING boot time and noticeable increase in battery life.

4 out of 5 eggsGreat! Playstation 3

Pros: I bought this to upgrade my playstation 3 hdd. So far no problems or errors and even at 4200 it still writes quickly.

Cons: Not even close to 200gb. And before someone says I don't know what I am talking about I will tell you why. Usually you will get Raw 200 and usable 180 maybe a little less. Not the case here, Raw was 186 and usable came all the way down to 163. But, for the price not to bad.

Other Thoughts: I bought this for my ps3 and bought an enclosure for my 40gb i took out. Found here at new egg of course. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817388011

Read my review about it and I think you will go for these two items for your playstation 3. Good Luck!

4 out of 5 eggsTo be now External

Pros: Availability, low price, low noise, low heat

Cons: SLOW!!!

Other Thoughts: I just pulled this from my NewEgg 08/07 purchased HP Tx1220us Tablet and put in a 7200rpm 200gb Hitachi, and my laptop seems FINALLY normal!!!
This has gone into a BYETC enclosure with USB2 and eSata, and works well there. After the rebate, the Hitachi will be 139 dollars.

2 out of 5 eggsStorage capacity is useless when the data is frozen

Pros: Large capacity
Newegg rocks anyway

Cons: -SLOW: 10MB/S or less at all times.

Other Thoughts: I've had this drive since mid october and I have not seen any speed above 10MB/S while using Vista, this is truely bothersome and had I known it, I would have not purchased this drive. It kills many of the works I do with photoshop, flash and absolutely destroyed my ability to do any kind of live backup system like I had in place before.

If you wish to do anything that requires the reading of data from a disk drive, then buy a faster drive. This one is purely for data storage, not data interactivity.

5 out of 5 eggsWorks Great For External Backup

Pros: Lots of space for backing up your important laptop data, less expensive than the other 5400 and 7200 RRPM models.

Cons: Too slow to use as a desktop replacement drive, unless you don't care and you have lots of time on your hands.

3 out of 5 eggsNot for MultiMedia Application

Pros: High capacity,Extremely Silent,no heat at all,Great for those who just want capacity and no performance at all

Cons: First of all when i got this H.D.D
it arrived with 185 GB i don't know why,
It takes about 1 and half minutes to boot the windows with core2 due 2.4Ghz cpu,yes it is extremely SLOW,When you want move your files to external hard disk or even between your partition it takes ages to complete,Virus scan ooooo, long time, better not to do it,thats all because of it's 4200rpm

Other Thoughts: i recommend you take either 5400 or if you don't bother heat and a little bit noise get 7200 rpm you will love it , it's extremely fast as i took HITACHI 7200rpm now 100GB and I'm using my old 4200 toshiba as external H.D.D

5 out of 5 eggsMinor Concern

Pros: Works great in Macbook, and has lots of space.

Cons: The drive in the macbook (80gb) had a tab to make removing the drive a breeze. I was disappointed that small feature was missing from Toshiba.

Other Thoughts: Price was best around.

3 out of 5 eggsOkay, while it lasted

Pros: Largest drive available at purchase time, not that much slower than medium-sized 5400RPM drives. Quiet.

Cons: Died after 4 months of light use.

Other Thoughts: I don't blame Toshiba particularly, but it is a nuisance having a nearly new, very lightly used drive just die.
