5 out of 5 eggsPerformed as expected

Pros: Formatted fine in my 64 bit system with GPT, formatted the entire drive. Fast and no problems after initial loading. Time will tell as to reliability. But for now, great for the money

Cons: Not a big thing for me, but expected a cable.

Other Thoughts: You do need to GPT convert in win 7 64 bit to get the entire drive to format 2.72 (in that area). Easy to do. I'll wait for the 2nd one I need for a shellshocker price. I do heavy video editing and need lots of space. So far so good!

5 out of 5 eggsQuiet, great performance

Pros: Nice retail packaging - the drive is literally encased in padding. Fast performance and relatively quiet. 1TB platters with AF.

Cons: There's no cables or screws. I didn't need any but usually these are included in a retail box.

This drive is supposed to have a 3-year warranty but when I went to Toshiba's site to verify, it showed the warranty began six months ago. Hopefully, Toshiba will update the warranty once I send it proof of purchase.

Other Thoughts: I'm using 3 of these drives in a Sans Digital TR5M+B enclosure connected to a HighPoint RocketRAID 2314 and configured for RAID5 (running Windows 7 64-bit). I've copied almost 4TB of data to/from it via 1Gbps LAN and via local SATA drives. I haven't had any disconnects or errors.

TIP for everyone that buy hard drives: You should *always* run a Health check and Error Scan on a drive before using it. Run it overnight. If you get any errors, send it back. Usually there aren't any problems but I've seen enough to make this a routine practice. And *always* run a SMART monitoring program regularly (CrystalDiskInfo is great - and free). Catch a potential problem before crying over lost data :)

5 out of 5 eggsGreat drive/value

Pros: I've had this drive for 3 months, no issues. Windows 7 ultimate loads in seconds.

Cons: Due to the size, standard formatting may not grant you the entire capacity.

Other Thoughts: Would love to get a few more of these.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat drive so far

Pros: Quiet as my 2 year old Samsung F4 drives (before Seagate bought their HDD division). No problems setting it up and chkdsk /R showed no bad sectors or anything. The drive I got was manufactured Nov 2012 and the model was DT01ACA300.

Cons: none

Other Thoughts: I'm using a Z68 motherboard and Windows 7 Ultimate x64, so the drive only took a few seconds to get it up and running once I got into Windows.

5 out of 5 eggs5/5 still good after 500 hours

Pros: Good capacity, good speed, good price! The packaging kept them safe during transport.

Cons: Not a brand I've bought from before. (Maybe that's not a con, really?)

Other Thoughts: I bought 5 of these together. Today their power-on hours will turn over 500. All five are running great with 0 errors.

4 out of 5 eggsretail vs. oem

Pros: fast, quiet, no problems so far. as usual speeds are theoretical and will never actually be reached in the END USER environment.

Cons: none at the moment

Other Thoughts: OK, this is the RETAIL version hence the PH3300U-1I72 description. Yes it is a DT01ACA300 drive (which is the OEM version). Different packaging, same drive. Some time spent on the Toshiba website will verify this. Also if you zoom in on the picture of the drive you can plainly see what you are getting. What gets me is there are totally different ratings depending on whether you're looking at the RETAIL or OEM packaging. Same drive, what gives?
