Service Problems
- Pros: Looks nicely manufactured.
Comes in a nice plastic packaging case.
Runs quietly and stays fairly cool.
Performs well for an ecologically oriented drive.
- Cons: This drive is intermittently failing with loud squeaks and squeals.
Several contacts with Samsung have resulted in a run around, to include their consumer side, business side, and an excalation to corporate. Noone seems empowered.
They now advise going to tech support, all through the 800 number or e-mail.
E-mail is unsuccessful because the product is not listed.
- Other Thoughts: Newegg's Heather Smith was supportive, advised further tries with Samsung and offered to try for me.
Most of my purchases at Newegg have gone well.
I would have serious doubts about ANYTHING Samsung following this experience.
I've RMAed drives through WD, Seagate and Hitachi/IBM with little drama in past years.
I will persist as time allows.
Good hard drive
- Pros: - inexpensive
- quiet
- comes with free hard drive dock (combo deal)

- Other Thoughts: Need to partition and format first before using
Good drive
- Pros: Runs very cool and quietly.
- Cons: Definitely a bit slower than 7200 rpm drives, but I'm only using it as a data drive, so it's fine.
- Other Thoughts: These would be great for a raid array, especially since most raid housings pack drives in pretty close, where heat would be a concern.
