5 out of 5 eggsOwned for over 2yrs!

Pros: I Have owned mine for over 2yrs and still works like its new.

Cons: wish it was USB 3.0, but well it was bought 2yrs ago xD

Other Thoughts: I never used the software that came w/ it, in fact I formatted this before using it just to keep it as a simple external HDD w/ no mambo jumbo =P

1 out of 5 eggsAbsolute Junk

Pros: Pros? Hah! none. It's a drive like any other... but the Cons...

Cons: Comes with a hard-wried built in software drive that you cannot remove. It's for the blithering dunderheads who can't do backups on their own without some other blithering dunderhead telling them how.

Other Thoughts: Run, do not walk from HP product that do not include the word "Printer".

3 out of 5 eggsHard-wired to annoy

Pros: At the time I purchased this, it was no more expensive than an internal 1TB hdd. The plastic enclosure is solid and doesn't seem to accumulate heat.

Cons: Bloatware on a hardware-maintained hidden partition that attempts to install itself via a virtual CD drive each and every time the enclosure is plugged in (Windows). No firmware upgrade offered by HP to remove this despite a year of customer outcry.

Other Thoughts: If you're a Windows user and you leave the enclosure plugged in to a single computer all the time, you can disable the virtual cd drive in the device manager. That doesn't help if you move the drive around though.

In the end, I just cracked open the enclosure and put the bare drive into a different one. If you do this, back up first--you'll have to reformat afterwards. Mine contained a WD Green 1TB, incidentally.

1 out of 5 eggsTerrible Drive!

Pros: It's a TB...

Cons: This thing has a virtual CD partition with useless software, and even if you delete the letter name on the partition, autoplay will always look for it. In Vista, this means that you can never set this drive up to automatically open when you plug it into your PC. This was a dealbreaker for me, and I was forced to return this drive.

Other Thoughts: Maybe HP should stick to printers....

1 out of 5 eggsUnremovable partition included

Pros: Cheap. Nice clean design.

Cons: Comes with bloatware. Includes a partition titled "HP Launcher" which contains things on it I find to be useless. Can't be deleted because it is apparently a hardware partition.

Other Thoughts: I understand HP has to include this poorly designed software to fight the marketing war - but at least let us get rid of it so I can make it a truly "simple" hard drive.

5 out of 5 eggsI LOVE IT!

Pros: smaller then i thought it would be, but nice, and shiny, quiet, very nice for the price, very quick delivery ordered it late, late Saturday, but i understand it wouldn't ship till mon, didn't expect till Thursday, got it today at around 1pm, was, and still very excited about it.

Cons: No cons atm

Other Thoughts: but is very scared to scratch it or put anything that might ruin the glossy black finish on the sides, and front but other then that i love this item, good job

Pros: not one single noise from this drive, ultra quiet. love the design, would recommend it to anyone.

Cons: not really a con but i would of like for this drive to have an ON/OFF button. but its ok it goes into sleep mode when system is idle or when computer is power off.

Other Thoughts: sorry newegg this was the only item i didn't purchase from you. but i'm looking forward on buying the 2 TB version from you. :)
