2 out of 5 eggsWorks great until it silently dies

Pros: Inexpensive 24-port gigabit switch

Cons: Bought 2, and after 4.5 months one died with no warning. Unit lights make it look functional, but all ports stopped working at once. Resetting power made no difference, but replacing the switch with another did.

No rack ears included or offered by newegg as an extra.

1 out of 5 eggsGood Switch, terrible support

Pros: Integrated power supply, standard power cord

Cons: Not keyed for wall mounting without brackets.

Upon calling Trendnet support I was greeted to 19 minutes of hold. Finally "Albie" in India answers. I repeat my email address to him 3 times. As he then asks me to describe the problem that I am experiencing with the switch for the third time I'm transferred to his supervisor, who provides me with a case number and then a website. This is the most inefficient RMA process I have ever seen. The tech support team is rude and clearly NOT paying attention. The RMA process is frankly a major pain as well which will require at minimum 1 hour of your time to deal with Trendnet bureaucracy.

Other Thoughts: I have used several of their products with no problems. However if you have a problem, their support is HORRENDOUS.

5 out of 5 eggsI love this switch!

Pros: The price was great for what I paid for. This switch fits very comfortably in the smart panel inserts that builders are putting in houses today. Ours is in the master closet and there is plenty of space in the 48-inch panel for the alarm system, phone wiring, cable TV, and the network patch panel and this switch. I took advantage of the fact that we were custom building our house to run Cat 6A wiring in 4 runs to every room (except the bathrooms.) With 4 bedrooms, a living room, and an office, That's all the ports. I plugged it into the Linksys router, and it performs very well. Yes, you can do just about everything you want wirelessly these days, and I do have several wireless devices, but there's nothing like gigabit ethernet for transmitting streaming video, and of course, wired networking is a LOT more secure than wireless.
Tip--if your router supports it, divide your network into wired and wireless segments and only do online banking and purchasing and so forth on the wired segment.

Cons: It would be nice if I could have gotten a 48-port switch for the same price I paid for this 24-port unit.

5 out of 5 eggsJust what I needed

Pros: Low power consumption
Good specs

Cons: I have had no issues

Other Thoughts: I've had mine since June 2011 and it's still going strong. My kill-a-wat showed it pulling 4w with an average load.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Switch Great Price

Pros: Quite, runs cool, and I get 110-120 MBs during transfers between computers. couldn't ask for much more than that for home networking Gigabit switch

Cons: Can think of any I just know I might need to buy one more as almost all 24 ports are being used =)

5 out of 5 eggsLow price, works, no issues

Pros: Been running this now for 6 months, 24/7 with 18 ports used in a 19" rack. Stays cool and have not had a single issue so far. It was an amazing deal via shell shocker.

No fan to make noise or to replace later, but make sure you have 1u of ventilation space above it if using rack mount.

Cons: You have to buy the rack mount brackets. What? A 24 port switch that does not come with rack brackets? Come on! INCLUDE THE DANG 19" RACK BRACKETS!!!!!!!

I would docking an egg ONLY because it does not come with rack brackets but this is already a great deal so the extra $10 is still a bargain (assuming you are not paying full price for this)

Other Thoughts: Rack mount brackets are not included:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16812998133

Those brackets are good quality - not thin - so get them when you buy this unit.
