5 out of 5 eggsIt just works

This review is from: TP-LINK TL-SG1008D 10/100/1000Mbps Unmanaged 8-Port Gigabit Desktop Switch, Power-Saving

Pros: I plugged it in and it works. It has been running for a couple years and works great. Used some Panduit CAT6 with it and the speeds are correct as advertised. I used this for Steam in house streaming to the living room. Works great even with Steam in beta.

Cons: None.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat cheap switch!

This review is from: TP-LINK TL-SG1008D 10/100/1000Mbps Unmanaged 8-Port Gigabit Desktop Switch, Power-Saving

Pros: Supports jumbo frames, awesome file transfer performance. 8 port gigabit hub for this price, can't go wrong. Even though it's plastic it features very solid construction, nothing bad about it. Cheaper than the all-metal version, and in most cases I think the plastic one would be all that one would need!

Cons: None. More ports wouldn't hurt of course, but that costs more money!

5 out of 5 eggsWorked Great

This review is from: TP-LINK TL-SG1008D 10/100/1000Mbps Unmanaged 8-Port Gigabit Desktop Switch, Power-Saving

Pros: I set this up to give myself more ports on my router and to make it easier to connect other devices. It plugged in with no issues and required 0 setup other than connecting the either net cables and power. Small foot print, does not get very hot and works extremely well. I ran a speed test right after I got everything back online and it tested the same as when I was plugged right into the router it's self. My download speed was still 115mbs and upload was 36.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: If you need to add more ports this is one of the best options for it.

5 out of 5 eggsMakes my network.. networky

This review is from: TP-LINK TL-SG1008D 10/100/1000Mbps Unmanaged 8-Port Gigabit Desktop Switch, Power-Saving

Pros: It does what you expect of a network switch. It works. I have no problems getting 1000mpbs links on capable systems and 100mpbs and 10mpbs (yes I actually have a 10mpbs device) that work.
MDI/MDIX also work fine.

Cons: Nada

Other Thoughts: I can't tell you about sustained throughput under heavy loads or anything like that. My home network for the most part was fine with it's previous 100mpbs hub but I do occasionally copy large (several GB of files) across the network and I have some linux NFS boot systems so I thought it was about time to upgrade.

5 out of 5 eggsWorked for what I needed

This review is from: TP-LINK TL-SG1008D 10/100/1000Mbps Unmanaged 8-Port Gigabit Desktop Switch, Power-Saving

Pros: There is absolutely no setup involved. I used this to connect my HD Homerun with my HTPC, and a PS3, and my NAS. And there is no hiccups.

Cons: In the pamphlet, it said that some connections can be powered down, personally I have not had that happen. But you should read that carefully if that matters to you.

Other Thoughts: For the price, you can not beat what it does.
