Acer Iconia Tab A110-07g08u 7-inch Tablet - 8GB

Pros: Speed and versatility are some of the pluses of this tablet. I was able to work with it for hour’s right from the box without draining the battery. In a matter of a short time I was able to root the device, restore my backups from my other device and be up and running. I tested multiple applications that I use with no issues. I have another person at work that has a Nexus 7 and when we put them side by side using a YouTube video, you could not see much difference in the quality. The Nexus did have a slight better color saturation but not that discernible. GPS, wireless, USB client and Bluetooth have worked flawlessly and have been easy to use. I have not tested USB input (host) yet.

Cons: Have not had any yet

Other Thoughts: I had a cheap chinese brand to get into tablets. It worked well for a year and then I outgrew it. The Acer A110 has been a great step up. I am sold on the 7" form factor.

Pros: Solid sturdy unit. Its been dropped on carpeted concrete a couple time with no sign of damage.
Display is great, and even with the lower rez it looks awesome next to my Nexus.
Performance is everything I hoped for. Never had a a freeze or even a noticeable slowing in performance.
Compatibility with every app I've needed from the Play store and amazonapps.
HDMI is a big plus. May never need it but it's there if I do.

Cons: Honestly cant think of any.

Other Thoughts: I have this, a Nexus 7, and an AGPTek 7, and while the agp may be the most pocketable, it blows in every other way compared to the others. This very much looks and feels like the Nexus, and if you like the Nexus, you'll like this..

Pros: Good size, very fast, reliable WiFi connections, accurate touchscreen. Unlike many of the 7 inch tablets this has an HDMI out and an SD card slot. I am successfully using s 32gb module in the SD slot. It is as fast as an iPad mini, though somewhat thicker and heavier. Just as usable. Hard to beat this for 199, considering what unexpandable tablets like the Nexus 7 or cheap Chinese knockoffs without Google Play or manufacturer support cost.

Cons: If there is one knock against this it is the relatively short 4 hour or so battery life in real world use with the WiFi on.

Other Thoughts: I would buy this again.

Pros: hdmi out, external storage, tegra 3 processor, looks great- I almost didn't buy this because the resolution was a bit lower than some other devices, but honestly, the screen looks the same held side by the others, not a real noticicble difference.

Cons: No back camera. Acer? Is being an Acer a con, being a normal desktop builder, I never had a great feeling for Acer one way or another, this product is working well, I guess I'll find out how much I like Acer if /when it breaks and how they support it.

Other Thoughts: I wish it had a back camera so we could just take it with us in trips instead of lugging a camera around too.

Pros: 7" form factor works great, Tegra 3 cpu is incredible, very lightweight, latest OS, very fast screen response. stand by time with this CPU is off the charts compared to the Tegra 2, so 7.5 hours rated life is when you use it consistently and without wifi/gps/bluetooth off I am guessing, but if you use it off and on with wifi/gps on it should last all day.

Cons: Screen could be a lot better, it does not have that wide of viewing angle ranges, and its not as easy to read as I am used to with my Asus.

I wish Acer had a 16GB available, this kinda forces you to buy an SD card (which is cheap anyway) if you want to store a lot of music or movies.

Other Thoughts: I use an Asus transformer TF300, and got this Acer a110 for my mom who wanted something in the 7" size.
This being said, I am not a fan of the Jelly Bean layout on this tablet, it is more along the lines of an android cell phone.

I have not tested many 7" tablets but Acer seems to be up to date on the OS consistently, and they use a very basic user interface, it is not over complicated or customized like what Samsung does.

I did buy this with a 32GB micro SD card and set up default saves to the card so it doesn't fill up the internal memory too quickly, and after several apps installed about 4.7 GB was used up for the internal memory already.
