3 out of 5 eggsBasically good but the weakest link....

Pros: Works well except as noted below.

Cons: USB 3 outlet is poor quality. I have not used the docking station or connected to the USB 3 port very much over course of ownership (2 + years). Now that I need the port to connect a USB 3 hub, it does not maintain a tight connection. Consequently, I have to connect to the USB 3 port on the laptop. Sucks that I did not discover this before the warrenty period expired.

5 out of 5 eggsLove this dock!

Pros: Love this dock. Just drop your laptop on and your off and running! I love the extra power (170W model) for fast charging. Lots of ports, can't go wrong!

Cons: Discontinued model, A little pricey @ $250 when I bought it but I am glad I got it when I did, price is up to almost $500...

5 out of 5 eggsAudio Port

Pros: Docking station is great and so much better than the USB port replicators. Can just drop the laptop down and not worry about extra power cords or plugging anything in. Lenovo support is pretty awesome. For business class workstations and support this is what you need. That is why I gave it 5 stars despite the issues I experienced.

Cons: The audio port on the docking station did not work and it is in an awkward position. I emailed Lenovo support and they shipped me a new docking station and it arrived the very next day!
The new one arrived and it did not work with the original Audio drivers; I downloaded and installed the new June 13 2013 audio drivers and fixed my issue.

Other Thoughts: I wish a docking station would replicate the finger print reader from my laptop. That way I could leave the lid closed when I dock it and not type out my password.

5 out of 5 eggslots of display ports

Pros: simple to put the laptop on the docking bay

Cons: not really a con I guess, but it has like 5 connections in the back for displays (1x vga, 2 dvi, 2 displayport (kinda like hdmi but not directly compatible), but the laptop I got (and most i've worked with) can only output to 2 displays. When I plug in more than 1 monitor, it shows up on the computer as disabled and will only let me show the display on 2 at a time. I know this isn't really a con for the docking bay as its laptop specific, just thought itd be nice to mention it incase someone is wanting like 3+ displays- make sure your laptop's video card can handle it or go with a usb to vga/dvi connector to add on additional displays.

Other Thoughts: we got this for an employee that needs to be out and about; makes it easy for them to just click-in when they come to the office; its really simple hardware and a doubt there is much that could go wrong with this- just make sure you get the right model for your laptop.
