Arctic S113BT is a portable wireless speaker system featuring a rare combination of one-touch pairing through Near Field Communication (NFC) and extended transmitting range through Bluetooth 4.0. Arctic S113BT plays CD quality stereo audio streamed wirelessly from all major NFC and Bluetooth-enabled smart phones, tablets, MP3, e-readers and computers running Mac OS/iOS, Android, and Windows operating systems.

AC-S113BT-NFC Best Features of Both NFC & Bluetooth Worlds!

NFC cuts the pairing process to just a fraction of a second and is as easy as placing your NFC-enabled mobile device on top of the Arctic S113BT for the initial pairing. The integrated advanced Near Field Communication components in both devices will get to work and pair with each other in less than a second. No more holding down the button and waiting for discovery mode to kick in. Powerful Bluetooth 4.0 connectivity streaming true CD quality stereo sound is far superior than those tiny speakers in your mobile device. What's more, Arctic S113BT works up to 30 feet away!

AAC & AptX Audio Support

Arctic S113BT supports the same high quality Advanced Audio Coding (AAC) - the digital audio format that is now a standard on YouTube, iPhone, iPod, iPad, Nintendo & PlayStation 3 and delivers better sound quality than MP3 at similar bit rates. Arctic S113BT is also compatible with aptX digital audio codec compression technology that brings you high quality audio virtually identical as wired speakers with an impressive dynamic range and crisp clarity. Not all the Bluetooth speakers support AAC & aptX.

AC-S113BT-colors Bluetooth Wireless Stereo Audio Streaming

Arctic S113BT supports Bluetooth Advanced Audio Distribution Profile for true wireless stereo audio streaming as well as Audio Video Remote Control Profile for control such as track skipping.

Crisp & Powerful Sound with Generous Playback Time

Arctic S113BT is powered by a solid-state amplifier with dual full-range drivers & two passive bass radiators delivering excellent sound and volume performances indoors and out. Built-in rechargeable battery provides up to eight long hours of playback in a single charge.

Easy Connectivity

Other than supporting the advanced NFC and Bluetooth 4.0 technologies, Arctic S113BT also comes with the standard 3.5mm TRRS audio cable so devices without NFC and/or Bluetooth capability can also take advantage of the portable high quality sound delivered by Arctic S113BT.

Outdoor Durability & Portability

Arctic S113BT has a rubberized protective casing that is both moist and dust-resistant. It is built to withstand outdoor use poolside or at the beach. The soft padded nylon carrying pouch keeps Arctic S113BT safe and dry so you can enjoy it just about everywhere you take it. With a petite footprint of only 7" x 3" x 2" and weighing only 14 oz, Arctic S113BT takes up little space and is easy to carry around.

Hands-Free Speaker Box

The integrated omni-directional microphone turns Arctic S113BT into your portable speaker box in the car or in conference room when using with your smart phone for hands-free phone calls. The sound quality is far superior to the smart phone speakers so you can put your attention on more important things like driving, making a presentation, or just enjoying a conversation.

Wide-Range OS & Device Compatibility

4 out of 5 eggsGreat speaker, not so great at making phone calls

Pros: Sounds good especially for its size and price. Very clear unless you max out the volume on the phone and the speaker. Feels very well built and is very easy to pair to the phone (I am using a Samsung Galaxy Note 3 which has NFC).

Cons: Using it as a speaker phone is a joke... the person you are talking to sounds great, but they will have a very hard time understanding you.
I used this with about 3 clients and my wife and all said the same thing... It sounds like you are in a tunnel. I tried moving the speaker but the results were the same.

Other Thoughts: I am happy with my purchase because I wanted to have a good sounding bluetooth speaker for listening to music and podcasts. This device does a great job at that. I was disappointed with the quality of the built in microphone as it is all but unusable. If you are just looking for a music player, this is a great buy. If you want to use it for making phone calls, look elsewhere or hope that I just had a bad unit.

2 out of 5 eggsCables not included

Pros: Works as expected and good sound quality for the $35 sale price I got it at. BT pairing work seamlessly and easily with my S4.

Cons: 3.5 mm audio and USB cable not included as indicated in description and on box. Luckily not a show stopper since they are standard cable sizes and I can charge it with a USB cable I already have, but shows a lack of quality control.

5 out of 5 eggsNice sound. Great price.

Pros: Connected to bluetooth on the first try. Very easy to connect. Nice sound for such a compact form. I like the rubber casing for extra protection. While I didn't test the battery life, if it even comes close to the advertised 8 hours, I'll be impressed. Great deal at $35!

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: Got this for my niece for Xmas. She loved it.

4 out of 5 eggsVery Good For Price

Pros: Small, decent volume, sounds good.

Cons: Lows are not very low, highs aren't very high.

Other Thoughts: This is a really good sounding device for the price. I would love to do a side-by-side comparison with the Jambox, just to see how it stacks up.

4 out of 5 eggsOverall Good

Pros: 1) Able to connect to Bluetooth quickly with iPhone 5S, Samsung Galaxy S4 and laptops
2) The battery charge indicator option which shows up in IPhone5S is good.
3) Pairing is very easy, hardly takes 5 seconds
4) Sound quality is good, amplifies better and fits well for a moderate living room.
5) Compact and the well protected with thick grip
6) Stylish
7) hands free option is nice and works well

Cons: Bluetooth detection range

Other Thoughts: I am not a music lover but thought will give a try when I found this in a deal. I am pretty much satisfied with the purchase but the reason I gave 4 stars is because,
I felt bluetooth detecting range is bad, If I take my IPhone5S more than 10 feet long, I heard disturbances in music and music stopped all of a sudden. This happened repeatedly though. But other than that its a great and nice device to have.

4 out of 5 eggsFair with one design flaw

Pros: Very long battery life due to Bluetooth 4. It pairs quickly using the button, and although NFC usually works, it's slower. To my surprise, using the USB to charge it on my computer caused Windows to install it as an external speaker on the USB wire. Able to fill my 30x60x13 workroom with enough sound to help me work.

Cons: BIG PROBLEM FOR ME is the speaker cannot detect that it's in use when the 3.5mm jack is used as the sound source, so every 10min it tries to turn off. This is the method we intended to use with these (bought two). Sound lacks higher freq., compared to my HDMX Jam which has better quality, generally similar volume. There is no indicator of charge level, and since this speaker can go many hours on a charge I lose track how much use it should have left and run out at times.

Other Thoughts: I've not tried the built-in microphone capability. I always have the speaker at max volume and moderate it using my player.

3 out of 5 eggsNOT Stereo, sadly, but good

Pros: This small 2-driver speaker box has a lot going for it: long playing time due to a larger than most rechargeable battery; very good sound considering its small size; it has a mic so that it can be used as a speakerphone; comes with a nice zippered bag for storage, which also holds the accessory cables that it comes with. And of course it's bluetooth, and that worked very well!

Cons: Not Stereo; it does receive stereo via bluetooth, but the built-in amp is mono. There are two drivers, one at each end of the speaker box, but the signal coming out of each one is the same. Thus there is no separation. It's nice sounding mono, but mono it remains.

Other Thoughts: If this speaker were actually stereo as it says it is, it would be great and may even be worth the retail price; but as it is, it's only worth getting if it's heavily discounted (which it was when I bought it.)

5 out of 5 eggsARCTIC S113BT Speaker-Wish I'd Bought More At Promo Price For Gifts

Pros: Sound-General: Use with cellphone mp3 player through this speaker is FAR superior to phone speaker alone, and about the same as 4x larger quality amplified stereo speakers with bass ports

Speakerphone Output: Speakerphone works VERY well. It was easy to switch from playing music to speakerphone and back again. Much clearer talk/listen than cellphone's built-in speakerphone (competing speakers have disappointed). Arctics worked exceedingly well in a meeting with about 10 one had trouble hearing it whereas some attendees did have difficulty hearing when we tried the cellphone's built-in speakerphone or competitor's bluetooth speakerphone

Music Output: Excellent frequency response. Crisp highs not tinny at all. Lows don't distort and bass is surprisingly powerful. Example: can feel "thumping" throughout.when speaker placed on chest. One just doesn't get that kind of bass from most of these tiny wireless speakers. Bass is still good when passive radiator side is placed "face-down" on tabletop. Played equally well techno/folk/classical. The engineering of the acoustics of this tiny form-factor stereo bluetooth speaker system is obvious and really shines

MEGA-Kudos to the electrical, mechanical, acoustic, and software engineers and techs.
Business/finance managers...NO kudos for you. Non-customer-replaceable battery = MAJORLY BAD DECISION (although I do recognize your contribution in getting this product out the door at the price-point)

Connectivity: Bluetooth pairing exceptionally fast/easy with this device. Faster/easier than pairing a bluetooth earphone. It auto-searches for pairing with source device when first turned-on. I initially one-at-a-time paired with a cellphone each of several Arctic speakers I bought. From then on I could use any of the speakers just by turning it on as long as no other bluetooth item already active. No muss no fuss. Did not try Near Field Connection (NFC). It's good they kept a "standard" physical wire audio-in port. Allows easy use with legacy devices and earphone-only style audio/video players

USB cable: USB2.0 Micro-B charging cable is full 30 INCHES (75cm) LONG! Excellent! Seems good quality. No obvious poor-fitting (see 'Other thoughts') or defects. Can be used as DATA cable for other devices! (like tethering mobile to PC). Compared to other devices that go cheap providing short 6-12" cable and remove the DATA wires, connectors, and shielding from cable to reduce production cost (eliminates need for some wires, shielding, thick insulation, and a tiny bit of gold plating)

Case: Zipper good quality, very well fitted. Interior pockets for cables. Light padding, good stitching and no loose threads. Plastic zipper prevents scratches, but slider is polished (no sharp edges) metal. However, user properly positioning the speaker in case, the silicone shell keeps zipper slider from scratching the black-painted grills

Company brags that it is "Carbon Neutral", but providing a product like this...that after the lithium battery/cell fails...where the entire unit must be thrown-out in its entirety, or shipped back to and from the manufacturer for battery replacement is NOT desirable in today's economies. This gives the product a built-in expiration date. I would like to be able to use this kind of device for many years without ANY battery replacement hassle

Unit seems 100% sealed. For user to change battery means must damage silicone shell and it also looks needlessly difficult for even a technically skilled person

External power?: I don't know if it will run on external power after the internal battery fails (e.g. using a readily available portable rechargeable "power bank"). The specs don't say. Many devices like this (BY DESIGN) won't work at all after the battery inevitably fails. This forces the customer to either purchase an entire replacement device or send it in for (usually) expensive out-of-warranty battery replacement. Throwing-out ANY entire electronic device just because of a bad battery needlessly increases landfills, causes more mining (and other earth impact), wastes precious metals, and adds to carbon footprint. (note to also reduces your product's on-going "free" publicity as user may replace it with competing device...means others won't see brand and customer won't "brag" about it anymore)

Since a replaceable battery wasn't mentioned in any documentation I didn't take off any "eggs". I knew in advance this was likely the situation. But, I can still list it as a generic "con". I do NOT like it, but being a highly skilled hardware and software engineer I'll likely find a "work-around" once it's out of warranty

Ringtone: This MAY be a bluetooth standard, but I was disappointed that when the Arctic "rings" it sounds a generic ringtone. My custom ringtones are NOT transmitted to the Arctic speakerphone, which means I can NOT identify who is calling me by the ringtone used, unless I am near the cellphone at the same time. For example, one ringtone is, "Sister Calling" then plays some music, but all I hear from the Arctic is a few generic tones

USB cable caveat: Remember I said the USB cable could be used with other devices for both power and data...well there's one caveat. It's micro-USB connector was a VERY tight fit when used on some other devices. Had to be extremely careful when connect/disconnect from other devices. This was true for all the cables that came with the Arctic units I purchased, so it may be a design issue...or a production lot issue. However, this is not a big negative and isn't a problem with the Arctic unit itself, so no "eggs" were deducted. Also, USB Cables from other devices worked/fit OK in the Arctic unit

Other Thoughts: Aesthetics: visually pleasing. 6mm thick blue silicone(?) shell wrap-around with front/back semi-glossy black grills exposed. The shell should help protect from major damage if dropped from reasonably low height (nightstand, coffee-table, etc)

Volume: Output volume is affected by BOTH the Arctic's AND the cellphone's volume control. This might explain any reviews complaining about low output volume or distortion. Example, one cellphone distorts audio badly when its volume is set >60%...whether or not I'm using external speaker or earphone. It's clearly caused by cellphone's audio circuit...not the speaker or earphone. This means I can reduce the cellphone's volume and max-out the Arctic's volume control, and there's no distortion

Battery Charge Test: I fully charged Arctic, switched-on and paired continuously with cellphone 48 hours straight. During this time I intermittently used it for over 6 hours at near full volume to play music from the cellphone and receive/make calls as speakerphone. I think that's a reasonable test for home usage. At end of the test period battery status LED still blinking BLUE at 5 second intervals (note: blinking RED indicates low battery)

Range: solid 20ft/7meters from all the Arctics as I walked about and outside the house. Beyond that distance they would occasionally "drop-out" for a 1/2 second or so while I was moving. But, if I stayed still I could move the unit until the signal was "solid" at about 30ft/9m or so. But at that point it was more sensitive to interference and being interrupted by intervening objects. As with virtually all bluetooth devices it was virtually useless within 2ft/60cm or so of a running microwave oven or other strong RF source (e.g. high-power cordless phone/wireless camera (but works 100% OK as speakerphone even sitting right next to various cellphones). This is perfect for sister who has just two VERY restricted spots near windows in her home where a cellphone can be used. This means her family can leave their cellphones in a "good" spot and use Arctic units to receive and make* speakerphone calls from "bad" spots. (*making calls requires phone with voice recognition)

If no early-life failures in the few units I purchased, this was definitely worth the promotional price. In my opinion it's superior to other bluetooth speakers priced at same Newegg regular price-point.

I am a LITTLE concerned about the power-on-off switch. While it feels solid and doesn't "jiggle", such really small sliding switches of this type often don't last very long when often used. But, if it's of quality comparable to the rest of the device, it should last at least as long as the life of the internal lithium battery. I'm also a LITTLE bit concerned about the USB cable being so thin. It MAY use very small-gauge wires which could affect reliability over time or with heavy usage. I have other micro-USB cables that are ~70% thicker than this one (More shielding and/or thicker wires?). Only time will te
