5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Use your computer just like a home theater system. Works great with my ati all in wonder 9600.

Cons: dont plug anything into the jacks on the side of the reciever unit, you'll fry it. This is my second remote wonder, though I have two remotes that both work. ha. It doesnt quite work up to 60 feet, maybe 20 if your lucky and have fresh batteries.

5 out of 5 eggsDoes what it is supposed to

Pros: I bought this and several other pieces of hardware for my Fedora Core 4 mythtv box... plugged it in, and it immediately started working--no driver installs, nothing.

Cons: I've not tried experimenting with its limits, I've only used it in what would be considered "normal operating conditions", and there have been no issues with it, as far as I can tell.

Other Thoughts: It appears to recognize itself as a usb keyboard and mouse; 'course lirc can change the keymapping.

3 out of 5 eggsGreat - When it works

Pros: Integrates well with ATI Media Center, and has plenty of regular and programable buttons and the software allows you to program what buttons do in different programs.

Cons: Since it's RF it seems to decide when it wants to work. Under certain conditions you have to be standing on the reciever for it to work. Even on good days it will only work in certain positions/locations.

Other Thoughts: Great when it works, otherwise you might as well just sit at the computer. I think and IR remote would have been cheaper and worked better.

5 out of 5 eggsWorks with Linux

Pros: Works great with FC3 using lirc_atiusb. The trick is creating the right lircd.conf file. Works great with lirc and MythTV. Do not buy the RW-1 because it only has about a 6 ft range. Buy this one instead. Note: I have not tried this with Windows and therefore cannot render an opinion on that.

Cons: Only good for about 30 or 35 ft, not 60 as advertised. Works through 1 wall. AUX and PC buttons do not work with lirc_atiusb but all other buttons do and are programmable, even the thumb pad.

Other Thoughts: Recommend using a 15 ft (or 30 ft + powered USB hub) USB extension, to get the receiver to within 30 ft of where the remote will be used.

5 out of 5 eggsDon't buy Wonder I.. buy this one.

Pros: Good range..

Cons: Poor mouse control. Too sensitive.

Other Thoughts: I bought RW first one, but it was a really bad product. However, this second one is mostly fixed the problems from the first one. Good to use.

4 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Highly Customizable; Good Driver Support for PC and Mac platforms; Joystick style mouse has good accuracy; sturdy construction.

Cons: Signal strength is a little low and can be an issue over large distances or through objects.

Other Thoughts: Don't buy this remote if you plan on using it through a wall in your house or over a large distance. It simply doesn't have the signal strength for it. This is an excellent remote for an HTPC if you can put the receiver somewhere with a clean line of sight, however. Works like a champ on both PC and Mac. Currently using it as a remote for a MythTV frontend and couldn't be happier.

2 out of 5 eggsDon't waste your money

Comments: Setup was easy. Lots of features. It has a range of about 2 feet. It would be a great product if it worked.

3 out of 5 eggsWorks pretty good, depending...

Comments: I got this remote to use with my Media Center that is hidden behind a wall. The radio reception for it isn't all that it's cracked up to be, but if you're close enough to the transmitter it works OK. NewEgg, of course, got it to me way before schedule!

3 out of 5 eggsNice Looking, but lacks functionality for me

Comments: I bought this gem with my new ATI x600 Pro All-in-Wonder. Well, off the bat, this thing was giving me problems... The drivers had to be updated to work, and then the ATI Media center and Windows Media center started to conflict. After downloading all the newest drivers and installing them (IN ORDER) the thing was still giving me a hassle.. I removed the ATI media center (since I use WINDOWS MEDIA CENTER) and guess what? The remote didn’t even work anymore… after reinstalling everything for the 10th time, now the channel +/- doesn’t work any more. So all in all. I have had a load of problems getting this to work properly with my current setup… (HP a1130n) and I don’t recommend using it with this PC and the X600 All-in-Wonder. My experience has been exhausting. It may work fine with other setups, but purchase at your own risk.
