5 out of 5 eggsFinally one that doesnt break

Pros: This remote has been working like a charm for over a year now and I havent even had to change the battery. I have had 3 or 4 other harmony remotes before this one that were "fancier" with touch screens or OSDs, but they would always break within a year of regular usage. This one has no screen so it doesnt use much power. The wireless receiver lets the remote work from anywhere, even from anothe room

Cons: Its small and easy to lose. The battery can sometimes wiggle out of its socket while remaining inside the remote, so once a month or so I have to open the battery compartment and push it back in place.

4 out of 5 eggsHarmony Smart Control

Pros: I now have 2 of these, one is more than a year old. The best feature for us is that you don't have to point the handheld unit at your equipment, all the iR signaling is handled by the Harmony Hub and attached IR Blasters. Setup is easy and the Harmony database has codes for every IR device I have. The free smartphone/tablet apps are pretty good too, and the setup options cover many possible setups.

Cons: A little pricey, doesn't control computers, may need extra IR emitters (IR Blasters) depending on how your equipment is situated. Another IR emitter jack would be nice - there's only 2.

Other Thoughts: The best Harmony control yet. I just bought my second one to replace a Harmony 650 that worked fine except that if you didn't keep it pointed at the equipment some devices would be left on or off. With the Smart Control this is not an issue. The handheld unit or your smartphone/tablet communicates with the Hub via radio signals. The Hub takes care of all the IR signaling.

3 out of 5 eggspretty good

Pros: does exactly what it says it will. somewhat easy to set up. light, quality remote, great IR blaster (the home unit).

Cons: not the greatest with bluetooth communications with devices. when i attempt to use my google tv from the remote it doesnt work at first. in order for it to work i need to grab my phone and attempt to control the google tv from there first. it will then connect over bluetooth and the remote will start working. it would be great if the remote could initiate this pairing as well. the same problem happens when i attempt to control my PC using a bluetooth connection.

4 out of 5 eggsQuality Universal Remote

Pros: The WiFi connected hub eliminates the need to hold the remote facing devices while an activity loads.

Sturdy remote with nice buttons and a great battery life.

Harmony App works great in conjunction with the remote

Cons: For some of the more advanced actions you need to use both the remote and the Harmony app. The biggest omission is the help button. The Help option is available only through the app.

Only three activity buttons on the remote.

Other Thoughts: I came from a Harmony 880 that finally gave up the ghost. I miss having the custom action window and having everything on one device but I was able to adjust quickly. All of my settings on the 880 were imported easily into the new Harmony software so setup was a breeze. If you only have three simple activities this remote is perfect. If you have a more complicated system be prepared to use the remote for simple actions but have your phone handy for anything else.

5 out of 5 eggsIt's a great upgrade from the Logitech 700

Pros: Very easy setup using Android app on Lg-G2 phone and network in house. Their software copied over the settings in my old Logi Harmony 700 that was showing signs of age and brain damage from too many drops on the tile floor. The whole job took less than 15 minutes.

Cons: They could include in the package a bit more detail - explanation of what the buttons on the included remote and in the Android app are meant to be for. I've figured most of them out but at first, it was "take a guess". Also, I didn't immediately realize that some of the activities have more than 1 screen of data - icons to display

Other Thoughts: I have a Denon AVR-e300; 3 HDMI In, 1 out to TV
Samsung HD TV and Bluray
Comcast - Motorola HDMI DVR box
Roku3 and

Everything worked on first try. It's a pleasure to not have to reach for the Roku controller anymore.

I have all of my components in a wall unit and was skeptical as to whether the IR would get to the Cable box, TV and bluray without use of the included external IR blaster. To my very pleasant surprise, everything worked right and continues to work and switch nicely between the "activities"

1 out of 5 eggsDenon - forget it

Pros: none that I could see, it did come with it's share of BlueTooth doggles.

Cons: Just today there was a two page FAQ on how you might get your WIFI working with it.

Takes BlueTooth and Wifi,

Here save some time this will tell you what's compatible.

If that doesn't take you there the page title is: "Search for your device in the Harmony database"

Other Thoughts: Took it back, too much trouble, then as fate is, I found my controllers after being missing for over a month.

5 out of 5 eggsMy favourite Harmony (and favourite remote) yet.

Pros: The basic remote is a masterpiece of design. Tough, small (but not too small), good buttons, feels well made and solid. The fact that it uses bluetooth instead of infrared (between the handheld and the base unit) not only gives you good battery life - like up to a year - but means you finally don't have to be pointing the thing at the TV for it to work. Very glad I bought this and the price is good compared to the previous Logitech Harmony remotes I have used. The smartphone app (we use iPhones) is a great backup if you can't find the remote or need to reprogram it from the couch.

Cons: Only three main "Function" buttons (Cable, Music, Movies), although they you can program for more.

No RF? Not really a fair criticism - this is not a Home Theater controller.

Other Thoughts: I've owned half a dozen Harmony remotes, from the Harmony One (basic touchscreen model) to the 770 which I used for a home theater build with integrated RF for lights, and so on. This one is by far the most pleasant to use. If you need a feature not on the remote, but you have a smartphone, you can use the app. I agree with other reviewers who have said "I can't see myself using a smartphone as my primary remote" but that's not the point and I don't think it ever was. The iPhone (etc.) is a backup and allows easy programming of buttons on the main remote if you want to tweak the config. If you have little kids, another bonus is that this remote is less tempting than one with a display or touchscreen on it, and if it gets used as a projectile one too many times, it's relatively cheap to replace (certainly compared to the $300 models I've had before).

5 out of 5 eggsSmart; very smart

Pros: Controlling Media Center PC; Sony PS3; Wii; Yamaha V673 AV Receiver; Panasonic 60' Plasma.

As you can image controlling a media center PC in combo with other devices is usually an impossible task for most remotes, but Harmony works perfectly. I had to configure a few buttons to make it just right but no problems. Works with Media Center Great. The Bluetooth for the Sony PS3 and Wii is working flawlessly. Really amazing to press one button and all the correct devices switch on and controlling the PS3 without using a controller is great.

Cons: One con is I don't see how you can control what happens for the 'off' button. Not really a problem because it works perfectly for me. I was concerned this wouldn't work correctly for my media center because in the past, remotes would shut the PC; but it doesn't which is what I wanted.

The hub itself omits an IR signal and there is one remote blaster included so this allows two points of IR control. This might be somewhat limiting if you have a base cabinet that is split left and right and also need to control the TV. You might have to move a box or two to be within the same section.

Other Thoughts: The remote itself is really nice, small, easy to hit all the buttons and to hold on to. I was able to reconfigure the fast forward short press to a skip forward and same for reverse. I also reprogrammed the Menu button to act like the Green button, so now it works perfectly with my Media Center. PS3 I had to assign a button for circle, cross, square and triangle but otherwise works perfectly for navigating the menus and answering prompts. One thing is that PS3 only allows one remote via Bluetooth so this one knocks out my existing sony remote.

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Great layout and design. Simple, but powerful.

Cons: None yet.

Other Thoughts: I agree with many other reviewers thoughts (from other sites) that using your phone as a remote is pretty inconvenient. I actually bought this for the power and capabilities of the Hub and the simple remote included. They have turned out to be better than I had hoped. I think the remote is perfect. I am controlling a Panasonic TV, Sony BluRay, Denon A/V, Wii, and Sony CD. I haven't had to do anything yet that the remote couldn't handle. In the unusual event I need to perform a command the remote can't do, I'll just use my phone.

The remote is nice and small, very thin, and a great button layout. The buttons have a very nice and positive click feel when depressed, so you know you hit it. The number pad is very small, it will take a little getting used to finding the right numbers without looking, but the number pad isn't used too often, so no big deal.

Regarding the Hub, I am amazed at the lack of delay from when I enter a command on the remote to when the respective device acts. With my previous Harmony 900 (also RF), there was a noticable delay. Now, I'm not sure there is any delay at all, I love it.

I couldn't be happier with this universal remote. I highly recommend it.

3 out of 5 eggsIs and it isn't

Pros: Obviously it is a plus that it controls all your devices through preset profiles.

Cons: Unfortunately the remote that is included is very limited to its functionality and the system is highly reliant on using your bluetooth connected cell phone. Control for the PS3 does not work properly as shutting down the system with the remote or with your phone causes the PS3 to shut down improperly and that makes the PS3 go through a system recovery when turned back on.

Other Thoughts: I wouldnt buy it again, The bluetooth functionality for PS3 still is not up to par.
